| Arizona is home to three native species of quail - Gambel's, Scaled, and Mearns. Over the years, Arizona hunters have come to consider the taking of all three species in one day to be a "triple slam." This is a particularly difficult undertaking as all of the species are found in markedly different habitats. I've only managed to take all three in two days - a slow motion triple slam. I'm still working on my official triple slam. | ![]() |

| The Gambel's quail is Arizona's most widely distributed quail and its most popular quail to hunt. It is tricky, fast, and delicious on the grill. Sadly, Arizona hunters take this great game bird for granted. | ||||||||||||||||||
