Modifications
On this page you will find details and pictures of different modifications that I have made to my feroza to make it a more capable off road car.
Suspension Lift
Mud Terrain Tyres
Body Lift
Exhaust System
The standard Feroza lacks ground clearance and wheel travel, so the first modification that I made was a 2 inch suspension lift.  There are a few different approaches that people take to do this.  I went for the cheapest option, which consisted of a set of custom 4 inch longer shackles and wound up torsion bars. I am still running that standard rear leaf springs and shock absorbers but I would like to up grade both of these to heavier duty items in the future.  I had the shackles made at Off Road Industries in Silverwater, Sydney.  They cost $200.  Winding up your torsion bars is free.  Nothing has to be changed to perform this modification.  The side effects are you loose a bit of front downwards travel and the ride is a bit firmer.  But the lift is worth it, because then you can fit bigger tyres which will give you more lift again.
For me the most important modification was an upgrade in tyres.  When I bought the car it had 195/70's on it.  The tyres were Yokahama Super Diggers which are a road based tyre.  They were great on the road but they were hopeless on dirt and mud.  Becasue of the extra two inches of lift I could fit slightly bigger tyres.  The largest tyres that I could fit on the standard 6 inch rims were 30x9.5xR15 Mud Terrain Tyres.  These are also the largest diameter tyre that you can fit with out scrubbing with a two inch suspension lift.  Not only did I get two inches more lift from these tyres, The difference off road was amazing!  The tyre change has been the most benificial modification that I have made.  I can now drive up things in two wheel drive that I had trouble with when in four wheel drive. These tyres are a lot noisier on the road but the extra off road performance and the notchy tyre look is worth it.
The Body Lift was a modification that I was always worried about doing.  I didn't think jacking the body off the car would be an easy thing to do with out coming accross a major problem that I couldn't fix, but after reading about how other guys had done this I gave it a go.  I did a 60mm body lift, nearly 2.5 inch.  I like the result.  Now I can fit bigger tyres and when I get around to lifting the bumpers, the approach and departure angles will be greatly increased.  It will also keep the door sills higher which will help when driving through water.

There a few specific things that have to be done when doing a body lift so I have written up a how to.  You can get there by clicking on the body lift link or right
here.
I had a two inch exhaust fitted with a set of MRT Performance extractors to try and get a bit more power.  Whe using a pod air filter the engine revs right out very easily where before it would stuggle to pass 4000 rpm.  After forbying I noticed though that the pod air filter was letting a bit of dust though it so I will be going back to the standard filter system soon.  I would like to fit a snorkle some time in the future which would required the original barrel filter anyway.  I was disappointed in the quality of the MRT extractors.  The exhaust guy told me they were made worse than the cheapest ones he could have got me.  The welds were messy and the flex pipe is only woven on the outside which makes a whistle noise under acceleration.
