| THE DBB WEEKLY |
| Greetings all potential roadies/groupies!! September 5, 2001 The band had quite an eventful Labor Day weekend. Billy Hank, Wooderson, and Rush traveled from their various ports of call to play the Parkdale Pool Hall in Parkdale, Arkansas. They set up at 3 in the afternoon and played straight through until the last patron had left, which was well past nine. All of it was recorded on soon-to-be legendary basement tapes. They were paid in Budweiser (four cases, to be exact), and received free rooming and meals. The next morning they were right back up and at it again and by nine they were already figuring out new songs to learn for their next show, which is potentially Margaritaville on the first weekend of November. It is now officially Keith's turn to travel to Texas for band practice, and the Temple sessions begin September 14th. More Cat Farm rehearsals are in store for this weekend. More to come later. With my mind on my money, and my money on my mind--- Bernard V. Shackleford, Road Manager, The Dave Blackman Band. |
| Word up. We apologize for the lack of information on the DBB in recent weeks, but the band has been in seclusion lately working on new material. Last weekend the DBB was able to put the finishing touches on Billy Hank's "Broken Wings" and make some progress with Wolf's "Parking song" along with laying down some fresh licks for other works in progress. Stay tuned. This weekend was the first in several months that the DBB did not play together. In a much need hiatus the DBB was able to procure an antique Martin guitar and put away many tasty beverages. This upcoming weekend the DBB will be in College Station, TX performing at Casa de Wall w/ special guests Phatty Fernandez and "Rebellious" Ray Dobbins. We look forward to seeing you there. | 11/18/02 First of all I would like to apologize to all of our dedicated fans who no doubt have been checking the website periodically, perhaps even daily, in eager anticipation for some tidbit or morsel of news regarding their favorite underground supergroup. As the past year has been eventful for all members, you will not be disappointed. The biggest news, as you no doubt gleaned from the main page, is the impending marriage of lead guitarist Keith "Wooderson" Payne. The band would like to sincerely congratulate Keith and wish him much happiness. Lead singer Billy Hank Priestley will be serving as a groomsman, while the bass player will be unsuccessfully striking up converstions with the single bridesmaids at the reception, dreading the ceremonial throwing of the garter. Although she was unavailable for comment, it has been assumed that Mrs. Pacman is grieving the marriage of her longtime companion. Billy Hank has been busy in his own right. Not long after this website's last update, Priestley resigned from the ....whatever it was he did in Temple.... industry, and applied for graduate school. He was accepted to TCU last spring and is now once again living the academic life, only this time he is studying. As an MBA student, he is learning the ins and outs of Corporate America while perfecting his golf game, all the while managing to find plenty of time for TV and NCAA 2003. Truly a case study in time management. Bassist "Wolf" Roberts retired temporarily from the teaching profession and went back to school Rodney Dangerfield style. He finally completed the daunting 8 hours he needed for his Bachelor's Degree in fine fashion, doing so with a 3.63 GPA in the three classes. Now he is seeking employment in the depths of the latest recession, dabbling in freelance writing in an effort to make any kind of money. Considering the regularity with which we update this site, the band would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and New Year, Valentines' Day, Easter, Memorial Day, summer, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving (this year, too). 'Keep on dreamin', boy, cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die.' -Shannon Hoon |
