The Moon and our Moods:

moods and moon phases
I believe that to a certain extent our moods are governed by the phases of the moon. On the left of the chart are the mood changes; number one being a low mood then on up through to number eight which represents a very good mood. The red line shows how moods can change during the moon's cycle. Compare your moods with this chart and if you want, send me an e-mail

Superstitions of the first ten days of the moons cycle:

First Day. The first day of the new moon is the best on which to begin any new venture. If you fall ill on this day, though, you will be sick for some considerable time and probably have to endure much discomfort. Any child born on the first will live a long time and be happy and prosperous.

Second Day. This is a good day to buy or sell anything, and particularly auspicious for taking a sea voyage. It is also an excellent time for farmers to plough the land or for seeds to be sown in the garden.

Third Day. A generally ominous day - and a child born on the third will not live long. Criminals should also beware for they are most likely to be caught for any crime committed on this day.

Fourth Day. The right day of the month to start any construction operations in connection with houses and buildings. If politics are your chosen profession, adds the superstition, this is a most fortuitous day on which to have been born.

Fifth Day. The weather on this day will be fair indication of what is to follow for the rest of the month, and a good day for a woman to conceive.

Sixth Day. The best day of the month for anyone to go hunting or fishing.

Seventh Day. An ideal time for a boy and girl to meet and fall in love.

Eighth Day. Beware of falling ill on this day above all others, says superstition, for a sickness begun on the eighth will almost certainly end in death.

Ninth Day. Do not allow the moon to shine on your face on this night or you will have your features distorted and perhaps go mad. (In some places it is believed that to let the new moon shine on your sleeping face during any of these early days will result in insanity.)

Tenth Day. Anyone born on this day is destined to be a wanderer and restless of spirit.

A Prediction:

Here's a mystical way of telling the sex of your unborn baby. Take your wedding ring and tie it to the end of a length of cotton which is about fifteen inches long. Lie down on the bed and get your partner to hold the other end of the cotton so that ring dangles an inch above your tummy. Your partner must hold the cotton very still and there must be no open windows to allow any breeze to come in. After a minute or so the ring should start to move. If it starts to move around in a circle it is a girl and if it moves from side to side then it is a boy. I tried it in my two previous pregnancies and it was right both times. I also tried it three months into my present pregnancy and the ring moved round in a circle indicating that it was a girl. Recently I went to my doctor for my five month check-up and the ultra-sound confirmed that the baby was indeed a girl. So, why not give it a go. You might get a surprise.

A Tarot Card Foretelling:

Every week, I've had my cards read and for some time before I found out I was pregnant, the Empress card came up which announces, "News of a pregnancy, wedding, or children arriving." The card came up many times and I put it down to making my character, Sharon, in the second book, pregnant with Frank's baby, but then it was me who was pregnant. This was incredible as my pregnancy was totally unplanned. Like magic, the Tarot card was right.
