This site is
dedicated to the trading and acquiring of great Canadian classic rock music
recordings!
I am a big fan
of almost every Canadian act from the 70s & 80s! From the most well-known and
popular bands like the Guess Who, Rush and Triumph to amazing, but obscure bar
bands like Zon, Moxy, Santers, Teaze, Hellfield and more!
I have spent
many years listening to the bands and building a collection of rare recordings!
Many of which I taped myself. I am always looking to expand my collection. If
you have some concerts, interviews or various recordings which you think I
would be interested in, definitely be sure to email me at:
Here
is what I am mainly interested in collecting/acquiring:
Yeah,
I know Rod Stewart and the Sweet aren’t Canadian, but I’m a big fan of both,
and try to collect as much of both as I can find. In fact, for most of the above bands, I would venture to say that
my collection of recordings would be the largest of any out there… and I’m
always looking to find more! I never
have, and never would pass up any bootlegs of the above bands, so if I’ve seen
it (and I’ve done a lot of research on the net looking for boots) I have it!
My overall #1 interest is TRIUMPH and their now solo guitarist RIK EMMETT (my all-time favorite band and musician). And, as you can see by my list, I have the largest collection of stuff out there! So if you have something that you recorded yourself, or that is really rare, and its not on my list, I definitely am interested! I even collect non-recordings stuff of Rik/Triumph, like old articles, photos, ticket stubs, posters, etc. So email me with whatever you have!
I am also interested in the following other bands, to a somewhat smaller degree, but they are still bands I like and am always interested in acquiring rare recordings/concerts:
AS WELL… I am killer interested in ANY and ALL recordings made in OTTAWA, ONTARIO at any time by any band!!!
I’m
big in to Ottawa bar bands! Any time period, right up to the current bands!
Love checking out current bands working their way up through the clubs. Ottawa
has a great amount of local bands right now, and I often bring along a recorder
to the show. Would love to get older stuff right back to the 60’s and 70’s as
well as 80’s and 90’s stuff.
ABOUT
ME!!!!
I am THE GUY who does concert recordings in the
Ottawa/eastern Ontario/western Quebec area. I love concerts and love recording
them! I go to sometimes 5 a week! If you know of an upcoming concert anywhere
in the Ottawa/Montreal/ Kingston/Toronto area and would like to get it taped, I
am probably your man! Email me and we
can sort out the details! I have only recently started taping things regularly,
but plan on keeping this up as a very regular thing!!! I record VIDEO or AUDIO.
Current equipment
Video recording: I have a Hi-8 camcorder, but am
getting a mini-dv within the next 2 months. My camcorder is a Hitachi
VM-H665LA. I have extended-life batteries for long concerts/festivals. I also
have 2 back-up 8mm camcorders for ‘just in case’ situations. For dubbing, I
have three VCRs which I use. All are RCA stereo VCRs. Never had a problem yet
with any of them.
Audio recording: I have many set-ups for this. I have
a Sony MZR-70 minidisc (yeah, slightly ancient, but still does the job
perfectly). I use Giant Squid Audio Lab mics with battery box, but also have a
little Sony T-mic (I can’t remember the item #). I also have a small Panasonic
audio cassette recorder (not micro cassette, regular sized) that I always keep
in the car, just in case. It is top-of-the-line as far as audio recorders go,
and the built-in mic is amazing on this thing. I also have a micro-cassette
recorder (don’t worry.. I don’t use it for recording concerts or anything! Just
to transfer old shows/interviews that people send me on micro-cassette).

How cool is that! That’s me and former Danger Danger
frontman TED POLEY in Clifton, New Jersey in December/02. By far one of the
nicest guys ever, and a phenomenal vocalist. Check out Ted at www.tedpoley.com to
see what he’s currently up to.
The
important thing to remember about my lists is the following:
-
show
information is definitely not complete (I’m just working on this list now…
maybe one day it will be perfect!) I have tried to put in quality ratings, time
lengths, comments, etc. wherever possible. But if there is no info, please ask
me, or else sometimes your guess is as good as mine and I can either find out
or we can research more info about it elsewhere on the internet.
-
I
am right now working on creating an accessible database of all track listings
for all the CDs, starting with my favorite bands like Triumph, Rik Emmett,
April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, Zon, Rod Stewart and The Sweet. I am almost done
all of these, now it is just a matter of entering the information somewhere.
Other bands beyond these will take time. Some of the bands that yeah, I have
CDs of but do not like as much… you can probably count on it never happening.
- In my video and audio lists, where I say ‘8mm’ or ‘MD’ or ‘cass’ that is just the format it was in when I entered it on the list. I have since transferred everything audio to CDR and everything video to VHS. So what is listed there is the original media it is on. However, there are many cases where I have updated the list for certain shows, and so the original media is not listed. Assume any masters of mine are cassette (pre-Sep/01) or minidisc (Sep/01 and after) and all video masters are 8mm or VHS if taped off of TV (of course).
- - Any questions please ask me J
