What have we been up to?
News & photos about where we've been, what we've seen, and other stuff.
Following Castle Drogo, we headed to Exeter to stay at the Holiday Inn, Exeter. We probably had one of the most comfortable sleeps we've had since we arrived in the UK! On Sunday we drove to Sidmouth, stopping at a few attractions along the way. The weather was fine, although rain had been predicted, and we again managed to take a few photos and captured some shots on our vidcam. Our final stop, before heading home, was at Powderham Castle. This home was built between 1390-1420 and is the ancestral home of the Earls of Devon. Parts of the home are still currently being used by the Lord & Lady Devon. David and I arrived in time for a guided tour of the home, which is huge. It has many fine furnishings and portraits and it was good to get the "inside" story from a Tour Guide for a change.

By 4pm, we were headed back to Plymouth. We had a quiet night in, but all in all it was a really nice weekend.
Okehampton
Castle, Devon
hi ho everyone!! *laugh*
Well it's now April 30th and it's not long till our holiday to
Italy. woohoo!

On Friday night we went to the Plymouth Theatre Royal and watched
"Jesus Christ Superstar". The music and singing was just superb - spine-tingling stuff! I was so pleased we got to see it...email me if you want to know more.

Dave and I recently had a lovely weekend away. On Saturday 28th April, we drove to Okehampton and then on to Exeter. We had lunch at Okehampton, at a local cafe, and visited
Okehampton Castle briefly. Unfortunately Okehampton Castle (ruins of the largest castle in Devon, dating back to the 11th century) was not open, due to the Foot & Mouth crisis, but we managed to take some lovely photos of it with our vidcam and camera. There was not much else to see in Okehampton so we continued on our drive...visiting Castle Drogo (built between 1910 & 1930), near Exeter. Castle Drogo is a great country house, standing at more than 900 ft overlooking the wooded gorge of the River Teign - it has stunning views of Dartmoor.
