From ESPN2 commentators during Vancouver @ Los Angeles, 12/13/01

Peter knows he's behind Dan Cloutier

"Peter Skudra [is] getting a little ice time here. He was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks just a few weeks ago. ... There's no sense in burning out Dan Cloutier, their #1 guy. Skudra knows that he's going to be #2 guy."

On Peter's white mask and pads

"In today's National Hockey League, there's always elaborate paint jobs on the masks and the pads are multi-coloured. Peter Skudra started the season and he didn't have a job with an NHL team. He got signed just a few weeks ago playing in the American League, so he was ready to go to pretty much any team from the looks of things. White pads, white mask ... ready to paint absolutely anything on it. You haven't seen that in a long time. ... The paint jobs on those masks can run unbelieveable amounts of money, so Peter Skudra is waiting. Perhaps he might go a couple more games, and then get the old felt pen out and make something up on his own."

Skudra in the Olympics?

"Skudra is a native of Riga, Latvia. He says he doesn't want to play for the Latvian National Team in the Olympics, even if he is named. He has not been so far. Latvia's team has to qualify--play three games before pool play begins February 15th. That's a tall task."

What happened on the first goal Skudra let in?

"There was nothing Peter Skudra could do on this goal because Craig Johnson gets stationed in front of the net, away from traffic. If the puck gets to him, it's a slam dunk for him ... and he slam dunks it past Skudra."

What happened on the second goal Skudra let in?

"Skudra [was] unable to handle the rebound. He was trying to get a handle on it, made the initial save ... it's loose. He tries it with the stick. If he had dropped his stick Dominik Hasek-style, he probably would have been able to pick it up with that blocker glove. But he actually put his hand down on top of the stick. The puck was underneath the stick ... and Steve Heinze found it."
