PROCEDURE FOR FEE CONCESSION, STIPENDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
The facility of fee concession is given to needy but brilliant and meritorius students. For this purpose, sub-committees are formed for different faculties. Students are required to submit application on the prescribed form. Then, they have to appear for a personal interview at a specified date and time.
In addition, there are many Government and Non-Government Scholarships available in College. Scholarship by Haryana Govt. for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Castes and Scheduled Tribes are also available. (Study rules before admission carefully) Students belonging to low income groups, Children of ex-servicemen, teachers and freedom-fighters and handicapped students are given scholarships and fee concession according to the rules.
RULES
1. Students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Castes, Scheduled Tribes
and Low Income Groups have to submit a proof of their parents� income. Students are advised to see the notice board for information from time to time.
2. For Scheduled Caste students, if their parents� Annual Income is more than Rs.1,00,000, they will get half of the normal amount of scholarship. For the Backward Class Students, this limit is Rs. 24,000 and for Lower Income Group Students, this limit is Rs. 12,000.
3. Proof of income certified by D.D.O. has to be submitted by Government Employees. Private Employees have to submit a proof of income certificate by S.D.M.
4. Students with compartments in the Previous Exams. are not eligible for this scholarship. They can become eligible only after clearing their compartment.
5. National and State Merit Scholarships are also available to eligible and
meritorious students as per the conditions laid down by the Central / State Govts. from time to time.
IMPORTANT NOTE : The information regarding other available merit cum means scholarships is given at the end of this prospectus.
IDENTITY CARD
Every student who gets admission in the college is given an identity card. He / she must attach his / her passport size photograph on it. He / she must always keep the Identity Card with him / her in the college premises. If it is lost, a duplicate Identity Card can be issued only after getting the F.I.R. registered in the Police Station. But for this, a student must seek the permission of the Principal and deposit the requisite fine in the College Office.
N.C.C. (NATIONAL CADET CORPS)
The college has a company of 110 Cadets attached to the 2nd Haryana Battalion N.C.C., Ambala. We also have a Girls� Wing in the N.C.C. consisting of 53 cadets. N.C.C. provides many opportunities to students to participate in various activities like Advanced Leadership Training Camp, Rock Climbing, Regular Army Attachment Camp, Para Camp etc. The B and C certificates awarded to students by N.C.C not only facilitate their admission to various courses, but they can also help them get a direct commission in the Army.
N.S.S. (NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME)
The Education Policy lays much emphasis on the relationship of the youth with the wider community outside the institution. National Service Scheme offers opportunities to the Student-Volunteers to inculcate and imbibe the sense of dignity of labour and service to the community. Its guiding principle is Education through sar vice to humanity. The students are provided opportunity to attend N.S.S. camps and interact with rural community. This gives them first hand information of how and where the real India lives. N.S.S. covers a vast area of human experience that is vital for the informal education of a young man / woman. The college has been allotted three N.S.S. units (two boys� unit and one girl unit) of 100 seats each under National Service Scheme.
WOMEN CELL
Our College has a women cell to promote education of women. Girl students should become members of this cell and under the guidance of their Prof. Incharge, organise such programmes which can remove the backwardness of women in society. They should also help women who are victims of cruelty and injustice. The chief aim of this cell is to make girl students self-reliant, confident and bold so that they are able to face adverse circumstances in life courageously.
SPORTS
In the field of sports, we have all the facilities available. We have a sprawling playground where students have the facility to play Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Wrestling, Cricket and Athletics. We also have a full size Basketball Court.
Indoor facility is also available for playing Badminton and Table Tennis. In Weight- lifting, Handball and Basketball, a coach for each of these games has been appointed by the Govt. of India. These coaches are available every evening in our campus. Many District and State Level Competitions have also been organised here.
In Weightlifting and Chess especially, our sportsmen have exhibited their class at the University and at the National level. Athletic meet is held in the College every year in the month of February.
ARYA YUVAK SAMAJ AND DHARAM SHIKSHA
Arya Yuvak Samaj has been established to spread Vedic thoughts. Every important function of the college commences with a Vedic prayer. Students are encouraged and given training to appear in the Dharam Shiksha Examination conducted by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Prizes are also awarded to the toppers by the D.A.V. Managing Committee.
