- DAV
HQ has a new Public Relations campaign called “Stand Up for Veterans” at
www.standup4vets.org
DAV is asking that members get their local representatives to sign
the petition and that members also sign it.
- There
is a bill HR 5995 that wants to give disabled veterans with 10% or more
compensation– free dental benefits. Members are asked to contact their
State reps to support this bill.
- The
dept is funding 4 DAV vans at Chapter 44, Chapter 20 and Lyons VA, the 4th
is in Hackensack but in dead in the water unless the dept can come up with
volunteer drivers. Hackensack is in a more chapter populous area of the
state and it’s a shame no members with come forward to help. Contact Dan
Flynn if you can take him up on his challenge to supply more drivers

is a new service for all veterans in VISN #3 (Brooklyn, Bronx, Castle Point,
New Jersey Health Care System, Montrose, New York, and Northport CA Medical
Centers). During non-administrative hours (evenings, nights, weekends, and
holidays), there is a nurse just a phone call away to answer your questions, to
cancel an appointment, and to put you in touch with your health care provider.

Air Shows
The original "Panchito", named after the feisty rooster from
Disney's animated musical The Three Caballeros, was a bomber with the
396th Bomb Squadron, 41st Bomb Group, 7th Air Force, stationed in the
Central Pacific. After several attacks on various Japanese strongholds
in Southern Japan as well as Japanese help Eastern China, she was
scheduled for another bombing run to Japan on the day the Japanese
surrendered.
