Tiger Army Biography

Tiger army was formed in late 1995, in California, and played their first show in March of 1996 with AFI. In January of 1997, they recorded a self titled 7" E.P. featuring the songs Temptation, Jungle Cat, and 20 Flight Rock. As Tiger Army front man Nick 13 collaborated with Rancid's Tim Armstrong to get a full-length Album released, Tim finally signed Tiger Army to Hellcat records. Tiger Army's lineup while recording the self-titled album was: Nick 13: Guitar and Vocals, Rob Peltier: Stand-Up Bass and Adam Carson from AFI: Drums. They Released Tiger Army in 1999. As they toured heavily promoting the band, Nick 13 picked up two new members for Tiger Army, Geoff Kresge: Stand-Up Bass, and London May: Drums. They toured southern California, and started work in 2001 on their new Album: Tiger Army II: Power Of Moonlite. They released it July 24 of that year, again on Hellcat records. Even AFI's Davey Havok and Rancid's Lars Frederiksen made guest appearances on Tiger Army II. London May left the band soon after the release, and Drummer Fred Hell soon came in to fill his seat. The band toured for over a year, concluding in November 2002, playing almost 170 shows. During the tours Tiger Army released a 6 song EP, "Early Years EP". This contains songs from their first EP, which was out of print. It also contains unreleased songs from early recording sessions in 1996 and 1997. They took a break from touring and started work on their third album, Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise. Yet tragically, before recording could be started, Fred Hell was shot four times on March 10, 2003, including a wound to the chest and brain. After surgery and hospital stays, he was allowed to go home and soon started physical therapy. He soon began to drum again, using new techniques. Tiger Army is now on tour, and recording Tiger Army III, which is scheduled for release in late April, 2004 on Hellcat Records. Tiger Army Never Dies!
