Solestri~(MM) Makes Gold
by Drasca

Hehe After posting, chit-chatting in Variants channel and some eating... well, a LOT of eating I went out for the Gold.. a 3@30 run in Variants7 solo. I thought, "I'm gonna die" Of course, that was very true. Death totals more than 15. But Fortunately, it wasn't a permanent death scene. (No Stair deaths or stair retreats etc.)

I had my items, my pots, and my wits as I entered Hell/Hell. Nothing stirred.. and this freaked me out... I turned on mana shield and walked a few steps. Still nothing. My MS and SC were hotkeyed, as well as Teleport so I could escape.. or hope to. I used one guardian to scout. It began shooting, and my palms began to sweat... the creature was coming and from what I could hear in the echoes, it was a snake. I waited til I could see the fury in its eyes and finished a Stone Curse spell just as it was at my footstep. Whew... half a dozen swings later, it was dead. I continued south in level 13 and encountered Doom Guards.

These knights would hurt but at least I could escape from them. Gold Vipers would prove troublesome if they ever got near. Luckily I had plenty of practice in Stone Cursing and if there were three, I could stone all practically at once in sequence from farthest to nearest with either no hit to me or only one hit to me. I figured that it would be best to Stone the one next to me last because it would be dead before the last would de-stone and that it would be prudent to stone the ones farthest from me first to keep some distance between me and them. After the first was killed I waited a few steps in front of the next until they unstoned and then restoned them. I did not attack until then. I kept on doing this and found the stairs fairly quickly. All was going well. A TP was raised and the first hurdle was jumped over.

Level 14 was next, but due to some stroke of luck, the map bug was on and I saw a tiny portion of the map near me and recognized the stairs. I took a risk and teleported over. I still had lvl 2 teleport and it cost 32 mana each. But it was well worth it. Another TP was raised and I didn't have to do level 14, Which I later found out was full of Balrogs and Lava Maws...

Level 15 was a killer. Azure drakes and Doom Guards. I activated too many too soon in too small of a space after taking down a few without incident. It was a recovery run from there in. I decided to explore 13 a bit during the recovery and killed Graywar eventually with SC and Golem. I Couldn't risk flashing because he would attack and kill me in one hit likely. I tried the normal SC and Fireball... didn't work... too many too close of quarters. It takes 7-9 hits with my level 5 fireball. I'm still just barely over 100 mag also as a level 30 Mage. I eventually went for the slow death method, which I learned from irate`drag or some other person I cooped with... I rounded the drakes up and went to one corner of the room and casted firewall twice next to me. I died from them but stayed. Taking Advantage of the game's quirks, bugs and such would be cheating, but learning the creature's ai behavior and how to exploit it is talent. Hopefully this is not considered the former. I used firewall and died for this situation where as the other guy used firewall on advocates in NM/Hell that didn't bother to move later.

Getting items back was easy after that and I had a firm Foothold in level 15. I went straight for laz's room and found more drakes and knights, but I was ready. SC, running, attacking, SCing again running and They Came down one by one. Running isn't an option all the time, but its most effective if you wait one sec for them to attack and walk in the attack recovery (as click away as they are hitting you).

Eventually I got to laz's room and lured out his main girls. They digged me more than they digged laz apparently and gave me nice pieces of armor after letting me snap their panties and they had so much fun they gave out a big scream. Later, I walked in and out of the room after trying to SC them, Golem them (Advos didn't do anything but flash, but the hellspawn in the back shot him down), and got his second set of women to join me. They Screamed as well and just fell down from exhaustion... I guess they just didn't have the same endurance as I did . After the witches were gone, Laz's room was more or less a breeze. They were probably too depressed from losing their women to me so practically didn't bother to resist (Stoned them :) ) Laz gave me his ring that he was using to win over the woman outside his room, her nickname was bloodlust and she was very hot for me apparently, but she had a lot of Jealous Boyfriends and their pets also attacked me (Doom Guards and Azure Drakes) I had died yet again and was well able to handle them... after 5 more deaths as a Naked mage and also showed Bloodlust just how Hot I could be (Fireballed her into submission). She even kneeled down and kissed my feet. Luckily the Portal to Diablo wasn't too far away. As a Naked Mage (recovery mode) I found it in the west room and cleared it. Diablo was going to be mine.

Level 16, the final level (Not including the Cow level of course ;) The area between Diablo's room and the switch room was clear.. at least in the beginning. I dropped 16 Full mana pots on the floor and left a TP in a small room between the east-north and west-south rooms. Then I TK'd one switch and was walking west to do the other... hoping that there wasn't going to be any problem. But there were. 3-4 Advos and then some knights came in. I had to restart and come down. I met a Single, lone BK and then the knights who had bothered me before came one by one to me. What a windfall! All was set from here on. But Holy bolt didn't activate Diablo for once. Was he stunned? Likely not. I had a low Holy bolt level. 8 maybe at most. I had to step close to and eliminate 8 of his knights total. 2 at first after slowly getting near and stopping. Then waitng, just waiting a 4 steps away and finding some knights after me for stealing their women... After dispatching them, 5 more came, 4 Blood knights and one black knight. I was chased a quarter of the way, stoning the ones farthest from me and taking my time stoning, waiting for knights to come near. Diablo eventually came out, but I was running out of potions. After another encounter, I had pots and attacked with my hammer of haste and everything in my backpack, I finally got diablo with some blocking and letting the golem help me. Diablo Bled, and Screamed his guts out.. the End Movie Came out and for the first time in a long time I enjoyed listening to it... half an hour later this thing is written.
