by Charis In response to my Death Knight's 3@30, the Diakon Charis`Angel decided to go for her 3@30, and pushed it by trying a Quest of Righteousness (+140 or so %l.r.) Gear: Crimson Armor of Radiance, Amber Helm of Radiance, Holy Shield of Ages, Dreamflange, Topaz Ring of Radiance, Crimson/Wiz Ring, Diamond/Life Amu. (note rules have changed slightly, to be updated in post soon... yes this is a valid config) No spare gear, fill up inventory with pots, no return to town. Downstairs to 13, stairs next to 14 :) There, just a handful of gold vipers came to investigate before stairs to 15 seen ! :):) Did a slow crawl on 15, vs Snowies, Hell Spawn and Azures. I've NEVER been attacked from so far away. I felt like a Golem, getting blasted off screen from enemies unseen. Waking up Laz lair was trivial, i just had to get within a mile of the entrance and almost everyone came out to greet me! Several advocates were deftly turned into pillars of salt and bashed, and Laz soaked up holy fire. Mercifully, the Pentagram was also not far, and a teleport into it put Angel on 16. Landed right between 'D' and switch room, woohoo! As usual, i was greeted right at the stairs from monsters far away. The Diamond/Life, a 'most preferred' suffix thought to be useless, saved her life when a fireball smoked her MS and brought her down to a sliver of red. TK, holy bolt lure, and the final event was on... Now this was going to be trouble. Magic not perfect to hit, no autoblock (too many points to Magic and Vit), and a scant few hits would slaughter me. I was wishing i had taken a Holy Defender shield instead of Holy Ages - the fast block, with a Perf jewel, would have meant a walk in the park. There was only one real hope here.... The lure was froma distance, back to wall, and when the first apoc told me he was coming, Angel set about laying down Heavenly fire all about her in veritable walls. The poor girl overcast however, and 'D' knocked down her MS, her death blow was not long in coming... At the end she did not even try to block the final strike, but prayed, and said "Let the Apocalypse come!! And may the Righteous triumph!!" Yet the so-called Lord of Terror made a terrible mistake! He slandered the Diakon and mocked her, "You don't expect to kill me with those little flickers do you?! Bow down to me instead of the weak one you serve!" With that, a roar such as ne'er been heard split the heavens and holy brimstone rained down on Diablo. His flesh literally melted off his bones and he was devoured in holy fire.
