Notes for Documents of Gondwanaland

Document - is a thing/title - deed/writing or inscription that provides a record or evidence. Gondwanaland - super continent in the Southern Hemisphere. Document is something that we all come across - regardless of material or media.

Education - is a systematic instruction/ development of character or mental power. Education is a man-inventive systematic instruction to provide one mental power / a clear knowledge of life and everything that lives under the sun, even above, in this case is an ordered document. All reports on multi - media are documents of different scenarios.

Document of G- Land is part of a report, I believe it is part of procedures of existence of space, earth, people and its own history that says that large parts of Gondwanaland were covered by large basaltic lava, just before the super continent broke up.

As an artist I choose to contextualise on geographical history, and theory particularly in Gondwanaland in terms of artistic creative imagination and as a means of addressing continental drift effects today as a result of movement inside the Earth's crust. The drift of continents continues today. Gondwanaland is an evidence in South Africa, that tells me about world evolution, not Africa alone, but the rest of the world.

Global disasters like floods, volcanoes and earthquakes etc. which are natural phenomena on this Earth Planet is a catastrophe in a particular destructed land or city, people, property are prime targets of such dangerous events.

What we know about the Earth planet history is all, not because there were not enough population and structures like today, people are not killed and devastated by political and violent crimes only, but nature causes this too. As statistics indicate, the number of citizens and cities that have been repeatedly destroyed by such natural phenomena. It is possible that the earth map of the World might change in the future.

Politically, economically and culturally it needs to be raised in terms of architectural and technological development in order to protect and escape the danger situation of side effects of disaster.

I am interested in cracks. To me they evoke a sense of the human condition and experience. In this case, the ritualistic use of African soil speaks about issues of social transformation, reconstruction and liberation in the South African context.
