Updates on our miracle boy!!!

TEN years old today, 05/26/2009!!!

Josh is 10 years old today! Praise Jesus! What a blessing he has been to all of us. He's done much better in school this year, and is playing baseball. He was crying yesterday from what he thought was chest pains, so his mom took him to the ER. He was having severe acid reflux from the Z-PAC he was taking. The EKG was normal and his 02 was 96%. Thank God for His continued grace and mercy from the day Josh was born. I still remember that 22 hour Norwood! The girls and I will be at Josh's birthday party on Sunday. I'll post new pictures next week! Many prayers and love to all of you that have followed us for the last TEN years!

UPDATE on August 13, 2008!!!

Josh continues to live a happy and full live. I will post a new picture from his 9th birthday party. WOW, 9 years. How can you ever begin to express what that means? God is SO good! We love you Josh!

UPDATE on February 8, 2008!!!

Josh's dad and I divorced on December 12, 2007. Although, Josh is no longer by step-son, I will continue to be an active part of his life. I will always love him! In life, there will always be trials and tribulations and I know God will see me though this one like He always has and ALWAYS will! Praise Jesus!

UPDATE on June 25, 2007!!!

Saturday was the Saving Little Hearts Synposium and Picnic. We had to get up at 5:30 to make the 2 hour commute and didn't get back until 11:00, but it was well worth the effort. We had a great day! It was wonderful to meet everyone especially Karin Coulter from Saving Little Hearts and her son Ben, 5, TOF, and Chasity Crouch, and Kobe Preston, 7 months, HLHS. I have pictures of Josh and Ben and Josh and Kobe in the gallery. THANK YOU, Karin for all your hard work! I'm continuing to pray for Maci's family today. It saddened me so much to log in today and see she went to be with Jesus. Love and prayers to you all!

UPDATE on June 19, 2007!!!

Our "baby", Abbi, turned 5 on Monday! She had a great party on Saturday. We treasure everyday. Time goes by so fast. We've had a great summer so far. Josh just got a new Golden Retriever puppy so I'm sure that will be a blast. Daddy also bought the kids a little 3 foot pool so we have been throughly enjoying that. I took my first vacation a couple of weeks ago, and we spent 3 days/2 nights on the boat and had a good time. Please pray for my sister, Mary. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday and underwent surgery to remove a lump yesterday. Thank you! Love to all! Daryl, Lisa, Josh, Alissa, Abbi

UPDATE on March 5, 2007!!!

Josh had an echo, EKG, and X-rays on Thursday. His heart function is excellent! His O2 Sats. were at 93%! Praise God! He did just get over pnemonia and double ear infections, so to hear his heart is still doing wonderful was music to our ears! Once again, we give God ALL the glory! Thank you Jesus!

UPDATE on February 6, 2007!!!

I am getting a proclomation from Mayor Paxton of Paducah, KY declaring CHD Awareness Week as February 7-14, 2007!!!!!!! There is also going to be a small story published in the local newspaper, The Paducah Sun!!!!! I am so happy! It has been a while since I updated. I go to other HLHS children's sites and think, they need to update, and here I did it myself! Well, my lack of updates is all for the glory of God! Josh continues to do wonderful! He just got over a little cough and congestion, but has been really healthy this winter. He continues to eat like crazy and not gain much weight, but that's normal for a Hypoplast child. The family went to the truck pulls last weekend because Josh wanted to go. He's all boy! We had a good time. Josh is doing good in school this year. He's in first grade again, but reads much better. Praise God!!!

UPDATE on July 26, 2006!!!

Josh has been fighting bronchitis for 2 weeks. He finished up his Zithromax and has been doing nebulizer treatments for about 1.5 weeks, yet he is still coughing. Please pray that he gets over it soon. God is faithful!

UPDATE on June 29, 2006!!!

Josh kept his Momma busy last week. He had 2 non-heart related trips to the ER. The second one consisted of 8 stiches to his chin. Josh took off on his moped without a helmet against his Momma's instructions. If our kids would only listen to us! LOL Oh well, he's okay, and hopefully he won't have too bad of a scar.

UPDATE on June 15, 2006!!!

Josh is 7 years old! He had a great birthday party at the skating rink. He, of course, recieved alot of gifts. His dad and I bought him a basketball goal for our house as he loves to play basketball. We will have him 5 weeks this summer and will throughly enjoy him! Praise God for Josh!

UPDATE on April 19, 2006!!!

Josh continues to do amazing. Praise God! I belong to a group called Hope for Children with HLHS. The owner just did a movie for the HLHS Boys. You can view it by clicking HLHS Boys Movie and hit Play Video. It's wonderful and it will make you cry so have kleenex nearby!

UPDATE on March 20, 2006!!!

Josh's heart cath. went great. The only thing doctors had to do was balloon the stent in his pulmonary artery. They didnt know if they were going to have to replace it, but once they got in there, they were able to successfully balloon it. His single ventricle was functioning excellent. The animated computer images were awesome. They showed his single ventricle pumping and all the arteries filling with blood. Dr. Recto even showed us the ballooning procedure. It was great! Kosairs got an electrical specialist (dont remember the technical name) since we had been there last, so he did a scope after the cath. was done. He said Joshs electrical system was perfect. Great news since he has WPW Syndrome. One thing we did learn was Joshs blood pressure needs to be taken in his legs. Dr. Recto said the arteries in his arms arent as big as they should be (not a problem) so his blood pressure would be 10-20 points off in his arms. Interesting news to know! Josh was kept overnight for observation, but he did excellent. His O2 stats remained in the 97-99 range. We are SO blessed! We give all the Glory to God and praise Him for His mercy and grace!

UPDATE on March 7, 2006!!!

Josh's heart cath has been scheduled for March 17 at 6:00 a.m. Please pray that all goes well and that his heart is functioning as it should. This is the first procedure he has had done in 4 1/2 years. Daryl(Josh's dad), Christie(Josh's mom), and I are nervous to say the least. God will see us through!

UPDATE on January 31, 2006!!!

Josh's heart cath has been rescheduled again! He has strep throat. We are waiting until at least March this time. Hopefully the warm weather will run away the sicknesses! "Thank you", to everyone that has been praying. You're prayers are greatly appreciated!

UPDATE!!!

Josh had a Modified Pedicled Pericardial Fontan on September 5, 2001 when he was 2 years and 3 months old. Everything went well.

UPDATE!!!

Josh's Glenn procedure was a complete success! The surgery only took 4 hours! Dr. Austin told us again that Josh's Glenn was the longest one he had ever done primarily because the doctors had to be very careful because Josh had a lot of scar tissue from the Norwood. Josh is home from the hospital after spending a little bit longer than expected due to a staff infection.
