Who knew they could make a decent movie based on a ride? They can't even make a good one based on a video game. I am pleasantly amazed at how much I love this show.
Johnny Depp plays Captain Jack Sparrow, the staggering, insane, down on his luck pirate, and Orlando Bloom plays Will Turner, an honest and talented blacksmith who throws in with Captain Jack to save Elizabeth, the woman he loves but feels is too good for him. She's been taken by pirates, who have a curse upon them. Adventure for both Elizabeth and Will then abounds. You never know quite how Captain Jack will react in any given situation, which is where much of the humor comes from.
This movie is too much fun not to see. The special effects are wonderful, amazing, jaw-dropping. The lines are quotable. The characters are lovable. The men are manly and gorgeous. The women are strong and beautiful. The pirates are scoundrels. Pirates comes close to falling in my category of "There is no reason for anyone to not like this movie." It doesn't quite make it, but it comes so very, very close.
