Sorry about the unusual size of this pic, but dang that pic is awesome!! I just couldn't bear to cut it down to size. Anyway, this is the Flash page! Where I talk about the Scarlet Speedster, the Crimson Comet, the Sultan Speed, THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE....THE FLASH!!!!!!
There have been three characters named The Flash in DC comic book history. Jay Garrick was the original Flash of the 1940's, gifted with superhuman speed when he inhaled a strange gas made of hard water molecules, he was the first man to hold the mantle of the Flash. He wore a winged helmet like the Roman god, Mercury, and fought strange Golden Age foes like the Fiddler, the Thinker, the Shade, and the Rival(his evil duplicate). He was and continues to be a member of the Golden Age superteam, The Justice Society of America.
Later on in the 1960's, Barry Allen, a police scientist, was struck by lightning and knocked into a shelf of chemicals, as a result of this he gained a connection to the Speed Force which gave him unbelievable speed. The Speed Force is an infinite supply of kinetic energy that is connected to and gives power to all Speedsters in the DC universe. Barry Allen became the Flash and was one of the founding members of the Justice League of America. He fought alongside such legends as Superman, Batman, and the Hal Jordan Green Lantern. He and his sidekick, Kid Flash(Wally West, his nephew), were nigh unstoppable, facing such villains as Mirror Master, the Trickster, Captain Cold, and Professor Zoom the Reverse Flash, an incredibly fast and incredibly evil enemy that became such a threat to Barry and his family that Barry was forced to kill him self-defense.
