My Grandfather was John Quincy Buell. Originally he was from Arkansas. His birthday was January 17,1890-91 and he died January 11, 1977 in Klamath Falls Oregon. He had several brothers and sisters but I only remember meeting Uncle Gus. His Great Nephe
, Lawrence Buell was the Dean of Oregon Institute of Technology for several years.
Grandpa married Marie Olafsdaughter Hirengen on June 17, 1912 somewhere in North Dakota. They homesteaded, I believe, in Montana but nearly froze to death so the packed up and moved to Chiloquin, Oregon.
Like many, he was related to Don Carlos Buell.
Anyone out there know a few details about this side of the family?

Hello, My name is Sandy (Kotwicki) Yurk. I grew up at Buell Lake, Genesee County, Michigan. I lived there 1945 - 1951?. My father, Louis Kotwicki, owned the east half of the lake. I went to school at the one room school house on the corner of Belsay R
and "Kotwicki" Drive (the east side of the lake). I cannot find the "Kotwicki" Drive now, I was trying to find it a few months ago. I can only get to the lake from the west side, which is now Buell Lake County Park.
Anyway, my father somehow inherited it from his father, Samuel (Sigismund, Zigmund) Kotwicki around 1942. Sam committd suicide or was murdered somewhere off Coldwater and Belsay Roads 1-1-1942. I am researching this family. I have heard Sam had a groce
y store at Henpeck, then somewhere between him and my father, Louis, there was a dance hall on the east side of the lake. I read in Sam's probate the property was 80 some acres. I need to get a copy of the probate. My father operated the dance hall, ba
until 1951?. It had many activities, swimming, and I remember many softball games held there. I lived in a cottage on the lake between the dance hall and the lake. I also remember there was a 'drop-off' there and I remember at least one drowning. I h

Buells everywhere! Not all of William's spawn hopped off the boat and ran all the way to Michigan. Some stayed in PA. Our trees must have split some time ago, since Gen. Don Carlos Buell (Commander of the Army of the Cumberland in Civil War days) is in my

Sorry -- boo-bood on my last entry -- my great (x4) grandfather William Buell was actually the SON of the United Empire Loyalist, who was named Timothy Buell (b. 1732 Hebron Conn., d. 1788 or 1789 in what is now Brockville, Ontario). Timothy and his wife
Mercy Peters, were the ancestors of the Canadian Buells.

I am a Buell through my great-great-great-great grandfather, William Buell (1751-1832), who fought on the Loyalist side during the American Revolution and was rewarded by the Crown with a piece of land in Ontario which became known as Buell's Bay and late
Brockville. Several branches of Buells met in Brockville at the end of September 1998. I've just found your site, and can't wait to see more.

Thanks for all the info on and links to Buell family connections. I am a Buell through my GGM Mary Jane Buell Clarke (1850-1908). The daughter of Albert and Nancy (Noyes) Buell, she was born in Pawcatuck CT and died in Westerly RI.
