This is a tale of a half elfin sorceress named Khalia Wildwander as she learns to accept her power and use it in defense of others. With power comes responsibilities, and that is just as important to learn as to properly cast the next spell. She is also bitten by the lust for adventure, and had traveled as far as Neverwinter in search of it. Gold does not matter as much to her as much as knowing that she has done her best.
Khalia does not travel alone, and she gathers many interesting companions along the way. She can get along well with others, although she does not like bullies and rarely tolerates anybody looking down upon her and her friends. She is a bit cautious by nature, though once you earn her trust she is very loyal. Betrayal hurts her, but she may be willing to forgive the mistakes that others make.
As strong as her inborn trait for magic is, Khalia does have some rudimentary fighting skills, so she is not completely helpless if her magic is drained. She is not fond of the undead, and she distrusts those who would create a mindless being from a corpse. She believes that magic should be used to help someone, even if she must go against society's rules to accomplish her goals.
Her familiar is a loyal pixie named Ezie, who is as quick with a snappy comment as she is with her lock picking abilities. The tiny winged creature and her half elfin mistress are very close, and woe betide the enemy foolish enough to hurt either one of them.
Well, that's all for now about Khalia. Her tale is told in The Magic Within, and it follows the plotline of the Neverwinter Nights game, though I am taking a few liberties with the story. The author (me) had found her way to a great site called the Attic, after she had been looking for some good Baldur's Gate based stories. To her delight she found many good writers and stories there. Ah yes, she has also another ongoing project in a story titled Blades and Magic (a Baldur's Gate story).
Keep reading, and remember to have fun!
