| ~Chapter 3~Through Time~ |
| ~*~ She felt like her control over her body was gone. it was like floating through space, with no sense of time or passage, disembodied from your solid self. That's exactly how Nicole felt for about five minutes. It made her feel slightly nauseous. Then, her feet came into contact with a solid metal platform. Unfortunately, her body wasn't ready for the sudden change in dimension, so she stumbled, her legs collapsing from their most recent experience with a timw gateway. Only, instead of kissing the ground hello, she fell and was caught by two hands. I her state, she mentally corrected herself. Iie...only one hand....and...one metal claw thingie....huh?! A claw thingie?!....Is that supposed to be right?....Ahhhh!!!..... Nicole snapped back to awareness and jumped out of reach, flipping and landing FAR away from the owner of the claw. She stared. The old man standing before her chuckled. "Ah, Iri Matsuka has trained you well, I see. Always as alert and ready as ever, she was." Nicole eyed him warily. "Who are you?" she asked, a bit stiffly. The old man looked her straight in the eye. "Why, I'm surprised you haven't already figured it out. I am Doctor J." "Oh! Gomen..." she said, suddenly feeling very tired and worn out. The old man seemed to noticed her sudden lack of energy. "Perhaps you would like to rest a bit before we move on?" he suggested, tactfully. "Hai." And she passed out right then and there. ~*~ When Nicole finally cracked her eyes open, her first reaction was to think, 'Where the heck am I?!' Then she remembered. She was in the future, sent to do whatever they needed her to. She sighed. 'Well, I should get out of bed,' she thought to herself. Her bags lay on the floor, next to a dresser. The long braid hanging almost down to her waist had gotten all mussed and tangled when she came through the portal, so she took out her brush and began to run it swiftly through her hair, wincing slightly when it encountered a knot. Hurriedly, she got past the minor obstacle and once more braided her long, black hair, tying it with a black hair tie once again. She walked to the door and it opened automatically, the sensor detecting her presence. Nicole walked out into a large hall. Seeing as there was only one way to go, she turned and walked in that direction. As she passed a small window, she glanced out and drew a sharp intake of breath. They were in space... She could see Earth, millions of miles away, blue, green, and white all blended together, making it a wonderous sight. The fifteen year old continued on her way, and soon, she came to another door, this one with a plaque on the wall saying, "Doctor J." 'Well, that was easy,' she thought. She walked to the door and it opened, admitting her into what appeared to be a study. Doctor J was sitting at a desk, with a computer in front of him. All around him where what appeared to be scientific experiments and charts, everything. "Ah, I see you have awakened. Did you have a nice rest?" Nicole nodded. "Hai, I did have a good sleep. Arigatou." "Good, good, Now we can carry on with explanations ad all of that stuff. Have a seat, please." Nicole complied and the Doc began to explain everything that Dr. Matsuka hadn't told her. So, Doctor J. explained all about the mobile suits, why OZ was interfering with everything, the five original Gundams, the complete reason why she was here, and so forth and so on. By the time he was finished, Nicole was just staring, trying to place all this new information. "So," began Doctor J, "Would you like to see your new Gundam?" "Um, sure, I guess," replied the girl. "Good, follow me." ~*~ The lift brought Nicole and Doctor J down to the hangar. It was a huge gymnasium of a place, but one mobile suit stood in it alone. Nicole gasped softly. It was her Gundam. It was black, with a bit of indigo as well. On its back, wings protruded impressively. And in the center of its forehead was a crescent moon with a star in its hollow. "So, do you like it?" asked Doctor J. Nicole nodded. "Good, good. This is the sixth Gundam, Gundam Darkmoon, which makes YOU, Pilot 06 now." "What's she armed with?" "Well, let me see..." said the scientist, leafing through some papers. "Hmmm... Twin Naginatas, a Long Bow, and some other weapons, that will be of use to you in battle." "How did you know that I used naginatas?" asked Nicole, "They're one of my favorite weapons!" "Well, of course, Dr. Matsuka would email me, informing me of eveything on your training, including your likes and dislikes." "Oh." Suddenly, a messenger, who was part of the crew ran up. "Doctor J! You're wanted in the control room!" he said urgently. Doctor J nodded. "Come, Nicole, there is work to do," he said. Nicole followed, wondering what the future had in store for her next. ~*~ When Nicole and Doctor J walked through the door, into the control room, one of the men, the messenger from before, hurried over and handed something to Doctor J. "This is a printed version of the message that we intercepted from OZ, sir. They are planning on transporting the new mobile suits, the Tauruses, to the Siberian Base. Apparently, there will be two routes, one by air, and the other by land. We do not know which is the false route." Doctor J nodded. "I see. We will discuss this more tomorrow," he said to Nicole, "Go have a good rest and be ready tomorrow morning for your instructions." Nicole nodded and walked out. Doctor J turned back to his small crew of followers. "Contact Heero Yuy." "Yes, sir!" ~*~ Nicole took a shower, washed up, and had gone to bed. But instead of falling asleep, she lay there, thinking about her past. Suprisingly, she didn't miss her family and friends as much as she thought she would. Probably because she had a more troublesome thing to worry about now. A few minutes later, she fell into an almost dreamless sleep. ~*~ |
