Laval and Nabil were hunched over a small table, discussing a Plan. Of course, it wouldn't actually take effect until after the clutch had hatched. Mischeif-makers that they were, they weren't stupid enough to risk they're chances of getting thrown out of the weyr. At least, not until the clutch hatched.
Nabil looked up as his gold flit woke up from her perch on Nabil's head. Unfortunately, this only succeded in dislodging Skara from her previous perch, whereas she started clawing madly at Nabil's face to keep from falling off.
Laval fought back a grin. "That's why you shouldn't let them fall asleep on your head, dimglow."
Nabil scowled at his twin. Laval's dark green Kiara poked her head out of his pocket, and promptly started to hum. Skara, not to be outdone, also took up the humming.
Laval and Nabil stared at their flits, then registered what it meant. They both raced out of the room, running to the hatching sands.

They got to the hatching sands without knocking over too many people in their haste.
Laval's attention was solely on the eggs, but Nabil was glancing at the stands, absentmindedly searching for their father. He located the Lord Holder, and was startled to see Reeka with him. Had she not Impressed? No, she had the knots of a greenrider on her shoulders. He was faintly surprised that she had actually Impressed.
The first egg cracked, and his attention was turned back towards the small brown that was looking over the candidates. Suddenly, the brown spotted him, and immediately, started towards him.
N'bil, I choose you. I am Crith.
N'bil was shocked that he had Impressed the first dragon of the entire clutch. He absently followed Crith out of the Hatching sands, barely believing his luck.
Laval watched jealously as his twin Impressed the brown hatchling. Two greens had hatched since, followed by another brown.

"Bet you Laval's gonna Impress a brown, too." Reeka exclaimed, watching from the stands.
Her father didn't answer, but nodded in agreement.
She thought of her own hatchling dragon, Maricth, and found herself wishing Laval the best of luck.

Panfir and Cheney had been standing by a small bronze, who was looking around, confused.
L'val? Where are you? I'm Sysith, your dragon. Get out here so we can go eat!
Laval stepped forward, smiling. "Here I am, Sysith." He whispered.
Took you long enough! Let's go! L'val laughed and followed his bronze out. They found N'bil and Crith soon enough.
"Hey, Nabil..."
"N'bil!" He answered, not looking up.
"Oh, yeah, whatever." L'val grinned evilly. "Meet Sysith, my
bronze."
N'bil looked at the small bronze behind his twin, yelling in indignation.
Crith and Sysith looked on, confused.
Weird. They agreed.
