| After
create the Human Kind, Odin
created afterwards an enourmous Ash Tree named Yggdrasil, this tree would
become the Tree of Life, of the Universe and Time. This spectacular tree
layed roots all over the world including Midgard, Asgard and Nifl-heim.
The tree was so big that the highest branch named Lerald (the peacemaker)
would reach Odin's palace.
On that brach of the tree a hawk had its nest, it was Vedfolnir. This hawk was in charge of observing every thing that happened in all worlds and report it back to Odin. Yggdrasil's leafs would feed also Heidrun, the billy-goat that produced the honey and water drink that was the God's food. Near the Hvergelmir, lived a gigantic evil dragon named Nidhug that would constantly bite Yggdrasil's roots assisted by an army of worm. His task was to destroy Yggdrasil because as she was the symbol of Life it would mean that if the tree died, the end of the Gods would be near. Of course it was vital that Yggdrasil was kept healthy and it was the Norns that held that task. Everyday they would water Yggdrasil with water from Urdar spring |
