At the beginning of times existed a being called Allfather. This being lived in a time before the creation of the air, earth or sea. Allfather had no shape and all he wished for would become reality immediately.

In the center of the Universe existed an endless abyss named Ginnunga-gap and up north existed a world known as Nifl-heim, home of the mist and the obscurity. In the middle of Nifl-heim existed also an inexhaustible spring of boiling water named Hvergelmir whose waters runned into Ginnunga-gap thru 12 gigantic rivers called The Elivagar. As the river's water would fall into the big abyss they would automatically turn into ice and roll down to the depths with spectacular noise.
At south of the big abyss we could find another world known as Muspells-heim, home of the eternal fire whose borders had the protection of Surtr, the gate keeper.

Meanwhile a new creature was being developed in the depths of Ginnunga-gap, a giant made of ice named Ymir. This giant started to wander the Universe looking desperatly for something to eat and after some time of search he found a gigantic cow named Audhumla which had been created the same exact way he was. He drank Audhumla's milk and soon as he finished, the cow started to look up for food herself. She found a big block of ice covered with salt so she started to lick the salt. It happens that inside that block of ice rested a being named Buri that got free of his prison thanks to the hungry cow.
Meanwhile Ymir satisfied with Audhumla's milk felt into sleep. During his sleep and from his sweat  3 creatures were born: a son, a daughter and a six headed giant called Thrudgelmir. This giant afterwards brought to life a creature named Bergelmir that would become the father of all the evil ice giants.

When the ice giants found out that Buri had been released from his icy prison and had brought to life his son named Börr, they furiouly started a war against them because being the giants the EVIL and Buri descendents the GOOD there was no place for both of them in the Universe. For years they fighted without victory for none of the opponents and it was by this time that Börr got married with Bestla and soon 3 sons where born: Odin, Vili and Ve and they soon started helping fighting the giants. With this extra help father and sons managed to capture and kill the most evil giant - Ymir. As Ymir was dying his blood drowned his own descendents and killed all giants except Bergelmir who managed to escape to the end of the world where he built his kingdom named Jötunheim where he brought to life a new race of giants.

The gods now named Esir after their win over the giants started to think on a way to make the world more pleasant and pretty. They took Ymir's body and started working. Ymir's flesh became a place named Midgard afterwards named Earth, his blood and sweat became the oceans, his bones became the mountains and his hair the trees and bushes.
