  • Aegir -  Aegir is the God of the Sea. Worship and feared by sailors who would frequently offer him human sacrifices. The sailors expected to please the God for they believed that Aegir would occasionally appear on the surface to take ships, men and cargo alike, with him to his hall at the bottom of the ocean. His wife is the sea Goddess Ran. His was later killed by Loki during a banquet the gods held at Aegir's undersea hall near the island of Hler (or Hlesey).

Aesir - Itīs a collective name for the principal race of Norse God which includes Odin, Balder, Bragi, Forseti, Freyr, Heimdall, Hod, Loki, Njord, Thor, Vili, Tyr, Ve, Vidar, Freya, Frigg, Sif and Idun.

  • Alfheim - Is one of the nine worlds. It is located on the highest level of the Norse universe. Itīs the home of Freyr and the elves of light.

Alfrodull - Alfrodull is the sun in Norse mythology.

Asgard - Asgard is one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Aesir.

Ask and Embla - Were the progenitors of the human race. The Gods offered them Midgard their residence.


Astrild - Astrild is the goddess of love.

Atla - Atla is a Water Goddess and daughter of Ran.

Audhumla - A cow created from the melting ice at the beginning of time. She fed the Giant Ymir.

  • Balder - Heīs the God of light, beauty and innocence. Son of Odin and Frigg, he was loved both by men and Gods.

Bergelmir - He and his wife were the only ones to survive the blood flow and became the progenitors of the new generation of Giants.

Bifrost - Bifrost is the name of the bridge between Midgard and Asgard. Protected by Heimdall.

Bor - Bor married the giantess Bestla. They had three children who became the first gods: Odin, Vili, Ve.

Borghild - She who kills the light of day. Personification of the moon or the evening mist.

Bragi - The god of eloquence and poetry.

Brono - The son of Balder, whose name means 'daylight'.

Brunhilde - One of the Valkyries.

  • Dagur - Dagur is the personification of the day.

Disen - The name for a group of goddesses of fate and fertility in old-Scandinavian mythology.

  • Edda - Old Norse writings. It is a collection of 34 Norse poems and prose.

Einherjar - War heroes who died with bravery on the battle fields.

Eir - is a minor goddess of healing.

Elli - Personified goddess of old age.

  • Fenris - Gigantic monster shaped like a wolf. Heīs the eldest son of Loki.

Forseti - Forseti is the god of justice.

Freya - Freya is a goddess of love and fertility.

Freyr - Freyr is the god of sun and rain, and the patron of bountiful harvests.

Frigg - She is the patron of marriage and motherhood, and the goddess of love and fertility. In that aspect she shows many similarities with Freya, of whom she possibly is a different form.

  • Garm - Guards the entrance to the realm of the dead.

Gefion - is an old-Scandinavian vegetation and fertility goddess, especially connected with the plough.

Gerd - She is an earth goddess, the personification of the fertile soil.

Ginnungagap - The primordial void.

  • Heimdall - He is the watchman of the gods and guards Bifrost, the only entrance to Asgard.

Hel - Hel is the ruler of the realm of the dead.

Helheim - Helheim is one of the nine worlds. Is the abode of the dead.

Hermod - He is the messenger of the Gods.

Hod - The blind God of darkness and Winter.

Holler - Holler is the god of death and destruction and the one who brings diseases and disasters.

Huginn and Muninn - The two raven of Odin.

Hymir - Hymir is a sea giant.

  • Idun - Goddess of eternal youth married to Bragi.

  • Jord - Jord is the personification of the primitive Earth. She is Thorīs mother.

Jormungand - Is one of the three children of Loki and Angrboda.

Jotunheim - Is one of the nine worlds. Itīs the homeland of the frost giants and rock giants.

  • Kari - Lord of the Storm Giants.

 

L- (back)
  • Laga - Laga is the goddess of wells and springs.

Landvaettir - Norse guardian spirits of a place or country.

Lofn - Lofn is the goddess of forbidden love.

Loki - Heīs one of the most important God in the Norse Pantheon. He is crafty and malicious but also heroic. Heīs a shapeshifter and was also called The Trickster. He was the responsible for Balder death and he was the one to lead the giants against the Gods on Ragnarok.

  • Mani - Mani is the personification of the moon.

Midgard - Midgard is one of the nine worlds. The one inhabited by mankind.

MimingMiming is a minor Norse forest-god.

Mjollnir - The name of the hammer that belongs to the mighty Thor.

Mundilfari - The father of Mani and Sol (moon and sun).

Muspell - The land of fire and flame.

  • Nidhogg - Is a monstrous serpent that gnaws perpetually at the deepest root of the World Tree Yggdrasil.

Niflheim - Home of the eternal mist.

Nine Worlds -
The first level: Asgard, world of the Aesir; Vanaheim, land of the Vanir; and Alfheim, land of the light elves.
The second level: Midgard, Land of humans (middle world/garden); Nidavellir, Land of the dwarfs; Jotunheim, Land of the giants (Jotuns); and Svartalfheim, Land of the dark elves.
The third level: Hel, Realm of the dead; and Niflheim, World of the dead.

Njord - The Norse god of winds, sea and fire.

Norns - They control the fate and destiny.

Nott - Nott is the personification of night.

  • Ragnarok - The final battle between the Gods and the Giants. Itīs also known as "The Doom of the Gods".

Ran - Ran is the goddess of storms, and the wife of the sea god Aegir.

  • Saga -Saga is the daughter of Odin. Sheīs also the Goddess of Poetry.

Sif - The golden-haired wife of the god Thor.

Sjofn - Sjofn is the goddess who inspired human passion, she was also a goddess concerned with causing men and women to think of love.

Sleipnir - Odinīs colt, capable of travelling over land and sea and through air.

Snotra - The goddess of virtue and master of all knowledge.

Sol or Sun - The personification of the sun, daughter of Mundilfari.

Surtr -  The Fire Giant, guardian of Muspellheim.

Svalin - The Goddess that shields the Earth from the full intensity of the sun.

Syn - Syn was an attendant of Frigg.

  • Thor - Thor was the Norse God of Thunder.

Thrud - Daughter of Thor.

Tyr - God of war and the patron God of justice.

  • Ull - is the God of justice and dueling, as well as the patron God of agriculture.

  • Valhalla - It is here that the Valkyries, Odin's messengers and spirits of war, bring the heroes that died on the battle fields. These heroes, the Einherjar, are prepared in Valhalla for the oncoming battle of Ragnarok.

Valkyries - Beautiful young women, mounted upon winged horses and armed with helmets and spears. Odin needs many brave warriors for the oncoming battle of Ragnarok, and the Valkyries scout the battlefields to choose the bravest of those who have been slain. They escort these heroes, called the Einherjar to Valhalla, Odin's hall.

Vanaheim - Homeland of the Vanas or Vanir.

Vanas or Vanir - In Norse myth, the Vanir are originally a group of wild nature and fertility gods and goddesses, the sworn enemies of the warrior gods of the Aesir. They were considered to be the bringers of health, youth, fertility, luck and wealth, and masters of magic.

Var - Var is the goddess of contracts and marriage agreements.

Ve - He is one of the ancient Gods, the son of the primordial pair of giants.

Vidar - He is the God of silence and revenge. Heīs Odin son.

Vili - One of the primordial Gods.

Vor - She was the goddess of faithfulness between man and woman. The Goddess of commitment.

  • Yggdrasil - Is the giant ash tree that links and shelters all the worlds.

Ymir - Ymir is the primordial giant and the progenitor of the race of frost giants.
