I consider myself a witch/Wiccan. Actually eclectic and solitary my wicca is simple, and more into the spiritual side of wicca. I simply name the Goddess and god exactly as that, or lady and lord, sometimes i may even call the Goddess Gia. I dont consider witches and wicca differant from each other, except on how witchraft has changed from being simple to complex.  To me wicca is modern witchcraft, while  older witchcraft before modern witchcraft is older obviously. And that would make sense to me for wicca to be modern witchcraft, because we live in a modern world.  Wcca has many things it is based on that could not be disputed if people take there time to look. "It is based on time honored practices" Cunningham said.  One thing i tend to disagree on is that all wiccans do big Ceremony. I love  nothing more to just light soome incense and talk to the Goddess. I agree wicca or witchcraft whatever  term you prefer has become more structured, and nothings wrong with this, some people like that structure, and so do i sometimes. But  i believe Witchcraft eons ago was simple and basic as were many peoples lives back then... But in essence no one knows for sure how our ancesters practiced becuase we were not there in person were we?! we can only take from todays knowledge presented to us, and from, our hearts, mind and spirit. But then again we all take the meaning of Wicca and/or witch differnatly because we utilize in our own ways.

Wicca does not have to be difficult, cumbered and full of big ritual even though it can be, if desired so.  Many Wiccans are so caught in discrediting who is or who isn't Wiccan because we may do things differently such as cast our circles differently and call the Goddess by any of her multilayered or faceted names? Are you so frelling insecure that you bother so much about others practices, I know of the bad eggs in every basket scenario, but should that become more important than the way you worship?  It is not what we do that determines our Wiccan identity it is by how we live, incorporating those values into our lives everyday. Am I any less Wiccan because the majority of time I do not do large ritual. To me large ritual is the involvement of casting circle, the use of ritual tools, calling the quarters if you call them atal, and inviting the Goddess/God to be present. I do not believe the Goddess/god get hung up on ritual, as though they wait perfectly for that moment for when you will commune with them in a large ritual. How naive or ignorant. I believe the Goddess and god can be contacted with or without large ritual. Large ritual is simply that, larger more prettier. It is truth the deities are everywhere. So cannot you call on them, pray, and worship them in the simplest of manners.
