Saw the extended edition of The Two Towers. Just like FOTR's extended version its an improvement of an already great movie. They show more of Faramir's backstory and a bit more of Gollum talking with Smeagol at different points. Mostly it is extended scenes rather than new scenes though. Since I've never read the books I can't wait to see the final movie next month. I mean the books have been copied/spoofed so many times (especially recently) that nothing will be a surprise, but it'll still be good to see it. Of course then I have to wait for the extended version of that movie too.

So I just signed a form to be able to do something at work that as far as I know only AVP's and above can do. Considering my current position is work previously done by VP's I have to admit I've got my hopes up a little...
Other than that nothing new. Last night was stay home and do laundry night.

Went over to Steve's place for the first time last night. His wife's out of town and he had to stay home and watch the kiddies. We had Harpoons limited batch of abbey style ale which was really good and a stout by Cisco brewery that Dave and Steve liked better than I did. It was a little too bitter for me. While there we watched an old movie called Five Million Years to Earth. It had a really good classic scifi story to it.

So last night I listened to Roger Ebert's commentary on the Citizen Kane DVD. It was really fascinating and cool to have all the tricks Welles played on the audience pointed out.
Tuesday night we got started kind of late so I showed Evan "The Gamers", which is kind of a homegrown movie about a roleplaying group. Its also freakin hilarious because they act out in costume all the scenes (accounting for good or bad die rolls). They did a good job of pointing out the problems with the D&D rules system too. Watching the Barbarian put his back out trying to open a door (because of a bad roll) and then the archer with a strength of 6 pulls the door off its hinges and tosses it aside (because he had a good roll) really said it all and reminded me of why I like the Aurora system.
After that we watched more Rune Soldier. The series is still funny and they've added in a couple new characters. We didn't watch more RahXephon yet because disc 2 was still in the mail. :(

Yesterday I did the habitat for humanity project where I help build a house for charity instead of going to work. It was hard labor, in the cold, in the rain, and of course outside in the mud as well. Still it was a good experience overall and I learned the proper way to stack wood. ;)

Did kind of the horror movie thing last weekend for Halloween. Tuesday nights now some of us are starting to get together to watch a few hours of anime. I have a lot of series I want to catch up on so this is really good. Tonight we watched some of Rune Soldier and some more of RahXephon. Rune Solider is a fantasy/comedy series that's a lot of fun. Easily better than Slayers in my opinion. RahXephon is a more serious mecha show with some odd characters and very interesting looking mechs.
