Went up to NH on Saturday night to hang out with some friends I don't see that often. We played video hockey until past 3am. I lost most games horribly because I was too drunk to master the one-timer shot. On the bus up there the driver started pulling out of the station without having closed the luggage compartments on the outside of the bus. I was the only one on the almost full bus who noticed this and pointed it out. Needless to say many people seemed thankful as their luggage would have been all over the highway.
I found a dollar on the ground at the bus stop this morning. Then when I was buying my morning caffeine at CVS the cashier asked if I wanted to donate a dollar to some children's charity. It seemed like the best way to spend my found money so I did. Its odd because I donate about 40. a year to charities and its all money I find on the street (or left behing in ATM's).

Friday night didn't do much of anything except realize I want something to do on Friday nights. I'll probably start checking out local gaming groups or head to a pub that has live music. Saturday went to Oktoberfest with Dave and Evan. We had a really good time. I'll probably go next year if they hold it then too.
Last night I got to play Twilight Imperium with 3 players. Since it was much better than with only two I can't wait until I can try if with four people. Tried finding the expansion for it today, but its already sold out everywhere. Apparently its a popular game.

As usual I'm sitting here just totally drawing a blank as to what I've been doing lately that's worth writing about. Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed. Nice life I have going here. :-\
This Saturday is Oktoberfest though so at least I'll have something to write about on Monday. Too bad I don't know more people that are going since its like a big party that someone else sets up and cleans up after. Weekend after I'm going to a sort of mini-gaming con in NH with Evan. Although I should probably see if anyone else wants to go. Then I have to set up an Aurora game for sometime in October.

I got approved for a new credit card (my old one died long ago). Now not only will I be debt-free at the end of this year, but I'll have credit even. WooHoo!!
Played a nifty two-player game last night called Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation. Best description is that its stratego with rules added. Evan and I finished watching Band of Brothers. That's really an outstanding series. I recommend it to anyone with any interest in WWII.

I'd like my job a lot more if I could set my own hours. Its not like I'm needed at work at any specific time of day or anything. The other good thing would be if I could go home once I've done my work for the day. Rather than sit around and look like I'm doing something other than surf the net.
No new beers this weekend. Steve is in the UK and we seem to have stopped beering unless he's around. Only a couple weeks until Boston Oktoberfest though and I probably won't want any beer for a while after that. Looks like Dave, Mike, Evan, and me will be the only ones going this year. I'm might teach them to play the forty-five's card game when we're there. Played a game called TransAmerica the other day which was okay. I'd play it again sometime. There's a website called brettspeilwelt.de that has a bunch of the german board games available to play free online. Including Settlers and Carcassone which is cool. :)

Well my vacation came and went. That's pretty much all there is left to say about it. No new beers this weekend. Although we did have some tasty reruns (Ommegang and Abbey De Rocs). Got Evan to try Midas Touch. Not surprisingly he didn't like it. Its not a really good "beer" unless you're into tasting in which case it has a variety of things to taste in it. :)
Went to the new Your Move Games store in Davis Sq. Anyone who's been to the old one knows it was pretty scummy (is scummy a word?). The new one is kind of across the street and smaller, but much nicer. They even have a widescreen HDTV on the wall in the gaming room. That alone could get me to try going there to game again.
Speaking of gaming. I've come to the realization that I'm just not a "gamer". I do like to play games. Just not at every single opportunity or almost every day like the "real" gamers that I know of. I guess to me its just a background hobby, not a lifestyle. *shrugs*

Been on vacation this whole week. Done some bike riding and a lot of walking. Probably do more bike riding tomorrow. Been watching a few movies that I wanted to (both my own and rentals). Probably the best one was The Good Thief, which was very stylish (which I like) and dark. Emperor and the Assassin was good too. I didn't like Trainspotting at all.
Had a new WitBeer that Steve brought over on Sunday brewed by Harpoon. It was good, but liking darker beers better I preferred their Oatmeal Stout. After that Steve and I split an Aventinus which I hadn't had for a while. It was still delicious of course.

Well they finally shipped my VCR. I'm going to ship it back for a refund though because I found a cost-effective way to make mpeg2's from my TiVo and burn them to CD/DVD. I'll only need a VCR for playing tapes which means I can buy a cheaper one.

Nothing really new to report since yesterday. My new VCR that was supposed to ship by today hasn't. I sent my standard complaint trying to get shipping refunded since it'll not arrive when it should have, but don't expect anything will come of it. My old VCR lasted me ten years. New ones all look pretty cheaply made so we'll see how long the new one lasts (if I ever get it shipped).

Been a whole week since my last update here. Gotta get into the habit still. Last week wasn't exciting or anything. I was very busy at work meeting deadlines for stuff. Was reminded even more of why I plan to cancel cable television next time I move. There just isn't a lot on it that I want to watch and what there is I can just buy on DVD. As it is I'm waiting for season 4 of SG-1 to be released so I'll have something new to watch that I'll like. Didn't really do any gaming this past week. Steve didn't come over Saturday so no beering to report either. :(
I'm on vacation next week. Can't wait even though I'm essentially dead broke with nowhere to go. But at least I'm down to only 500. in debt so I'll be debt free in a couple months and can start saving money for my vacations. :)

Didn't really do much last night. I had a case of the Monday's I guess. :-\
Played with Dave's DVD Recorder a little. He's had trouble getting it hooked up the way he wanted, but I hooked it up so he can at least start using it. I know how much I'd hate to buy a new electronic gizmo and not be able to play with it for a month.

Well this past weekend flew by as usual. Hung around with Evan for most of it. Saturday we had lunch at The Burren in Davis Sq. again. I had the shepherd's pie last time and a burger this time. They serve a fine pint of Guiness there, but it has a little bitterness to it and I'm suspicious that they don't use the traditional pouring method. The Guiness and burgers are better at O'Sullivan's in Union Sq. Later Saturday afternoon Steve came over for the weekly beer thing. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to Saturday afternoon "beering" (I just invented a new word), but it seems the only time Steve can come over. Maybe I just won't drink unless its something new. We didn't really have anything new this last time. Mike came over later that day as well and stayed up with Dave and Evan playing games until dawn (no big surprise there).
Sunday was my first, and last, attempt at getting a weekly Sunday afternoon gaming session going. Mike couldn't make it and Geoffrey couldn't show until late in the day. Seems easier to just play pickup games and/or call people that day and see if they're free. I did finally get to try out Twilight Imperium with Evan which I was happy about. I like the game, but its easy to see it'd be way better with more players. Later on played Puerto Rico, which I liked, and Medina, which I didn't like (the playing pieces never appealed to me even before playing but other than that it seemed a solid enough game).

I keep running into people who have these blog things so I wanted a blog thing too (yeah, I'd jump off the bridge). Of course other peoples lives always seem more fascinating than my own. *shrugs*
Went to dinner after work last night at John Harvard's. It was my friend Stephen's last night here as he's moving to New Zealand. So one of his groups of friends (which I'm not really a part of but somehow got invited anyway) took him out to dinner there and then we all had ice cream down the street afterwards. They have good milk stout at John Harvard's. It's got about the same lactose sugars as Mackesons, but with more the texture of a Guiness. I was going to bring some home with me for the weekly beer tasting, but they didn't have any to go. I may stop by next week and see if I can get some then.
Speaking of things beer related... I bought my ticket for this years Oktoberfest this morning. Last year was a lot of fun and it looks like this year's will be even better. Just hopefully they won't run out of Optimator so quickly and I still never got to try the Maibock.
