Interviewer: So you're a new comic company, but you're web based. What kind of comics can be expected from a website?
DS: At the moment we have no artists on board at all so it'll be up to the writers to tell every aspect of the story. That being said the issues will be written in a format that is similar to that of a novel yet with a different style to it. The closest thing it can be related to is a style sometimes used for roleplays in internet wrestling. It's better than it sounds.
Interviewer: I'm not familiar with the style you mention. Is there anywhere I can look to get an idea of what it looks like?
DS: The style I'm using will be similar to what I did in internet wrestling. An example can be found at http://geocities.com/darkkon187/rpz13.html and it is slightly different than what I'm doing now but is close enough to it for you to get a good idea. Here let's take a look.
Interviewer: That's different. Will all these images and such be on there as well?
DS: No I don't intend to use that kind of stuff. This was just used for the story I was telling with internet wrestling. Most of the characters from those stories (Darkstar, Andrea Raven, etc.) will be in the titles I write. They won't be the same as they were for the world of wrestling. For instance, Darkstar in the wrestling universe is a psychotic creature who feeds on pain. In the Dark Asylum Comic Universe he's a tough as nails dark hero with a past he isn't proud of. Who knows though, if the title I write here ends up being popular I may do a limited series on the wrestling universe characters.
Interviewer: About the first titles the company is putting out. What is in the works right now?
DS: Currently I'm beginning work on a book called, "The Asylum". The team the book is written about is called the Asylum, which I know seems strange since the company is Dark Asylum Comics. Not any stranger than Marvel having Captain Marvel.
Interviewer: Is the Asylum a team of insane heroes or something?
DS:No. An asylum is something that keeps people safe from outside forces. Which in essence is what being a hero is about. I hesitated about using the name Asylum with what the company's name is but I liked the name and the meaning behind it too much not to use it.
Interviewer: What other titles can we expect?
DS: Well also in the works are two other books. Right now the names are looking to be Piter Svoboda and Generation Why. For information on those books you'll have to wait till you do the interviews with their creators. I'm not going to give anything away that they might not want me to. The only thing I can tell you is both Job and Scott are excellent writers and I'm excited to see their work when it's ready.
Interviewer: So what can you tell me about the Asylum book?
DS: Well the team has 5 heroes: 1.Darkstar-I mentioned a little about him already, he is extremely strong, can fly, and can fire powerful energy. 2.Selrack-former miltary man, he can alter his density, leap large distances, is strong, and can coat his body with an armor. 3.Tek-He's a genius who has created a suit to give him his abilities. 4. Impact-She gained her abilities and had to give up her dream of becoming a pro soccer player. She can emit a charge that makes her physical attacks do more damage, she can fly, and can fire a kinetic energy attack. 5. Spyder-She is the youngest member of the team and though she is agile and such she really only has one power. She can emit a black substance of sorts (I guess a webbing) that can ensnare opponents, pull things toward her and such. She'll be spending a lot of time trying to figure out her powers.
Interviewer: What else can you tell me about this group and what the future holds for them?
DS: Well I have a lot in store for them. Things from the past will be coming to bite them in the butts as well as them having to make a lot of hard choices. I plan to have some hard hitting stories with a lot of character development. I have the first issue worked out for the most part at the moment and a ton of things I will be putting in future ones. This title is going to let you get to know the characters, including the villains. I'm not going to reveal a whole lot at the moment, but I will tell you one thing. The first issue won't be spent having one of those quirky gathering of the team stories. Most of the time those feel forced. The team will have been together about a week already and on their way to pick up their last member as it starts. I wanted to get straight into the character development and the story for the most part.
Interviewer: You definately seem excited though I wish you'd tell me more about the books. One last question DS. When can we expect the first issue of Asylum?
DS: Well I will be starting on it in a few days. We're probably looking at around the middle of June. Though who knows it could be earlier.
Interviewer: Thank you for your time. Good luck with your company.
