Batman finds Azrael on his patrol. Something clues Batman in and he spots the figure many blocks off in the distance. He uses his Starlight lenses magnified and gets a quick view of him. The figure gestures indicating that he knows Batman is watching and then slips off the roof into the darkness.

Batman heads to the spot only to find absolutley no trace of the individual. A rooftop smokestack had melted the snow on the rooftop ledge, there were no footprints available either. Just a small strand of animal fur later found to be from a jaguar.

Batgirl returns to the cave with her costume torn in two places and a few bruises. She silently holds up and handfull of Jaguar fur and material to Batman.

Batman tells Robin to make sure Bobby knows neither of them is allowed to patrol Gotham alone. Also that the two of them patrolling together does not constitue being accompanied.

Batman warns team Batman of the Hunter's presence.
Batman visit Selina Kyle for information on this presence. She has none, but offers to take him down.
Batman personally warns the Huntress and gives her a Vid Disc with the file.

Over the next week Batman finds several items left along his patrol route.

1. A small piece of material with Logan's DNA on it
2. A packaging wrapper for a mini disk used for a cam corder with Peter's DNA on it
3. A snapshot deep within the Manchester Mansion grounds of the X-Men showing several new mutants practicing out behind the mansion with their powers.

Batman calls Professor Xavier, Nightstick and Spiderman to have a meeting. Charles chooses Gotham. Batman offers to let him bring who he wishes but asks for a number. Charles tells him no more than 4.
Batman tells him to be on the third level of the Gotham Arms Hotel and a white limo will pick them up.

Charles calls Logan and Bobby to the Library, Psylocke appears. He informs them of the meeting and the four head to Gotham.

Nightstick and Spidey will meet in the cave.

Batman bugs the limo with a video/audio feed.

Alfred picks them up. Bobby doesn't know that Charles knows who Batman is and questions Alfred as if he knows him. Alfred pretends he has no idea what he is talking about and treats him as if he doesn't know him.

They get to the mansion, meet Tim, Timmy and Peter and have dinner. When Tim is introduced Logan gives Betsy the 'wink'

Throughout dinner Bruce shows them all the evidence. He then informs them of Batgirl's success against the Hunter. He gives the cloth to Logan who sniffs it, looks at Bruce and says "Oh he likes you, and your little girl too."

Bruce suggests a plan using Logan's senses to hunt the hunter.

Bruce offers to take them on a tour of the house. Betsy and Timmy go.

Betsy does several pyschological and social tests throughout the house to gauge Bruce and Timmy's reactions to her. When they enter the study and she sees his family picture, she tells Bruce she is sorry for his loss. She picks up on Nighstick's body language and notices something about the grandfather clock. She deduces the entrance to the Batcave might be there.

Back to dinner and they discuss plans of action. Bruce makes a suggestion that causes Psylocke to ask "Are we going to the study now?" And Logan to reveal he has 'travellin duds' on under his shirt and tie.

The all go down into the Batcave, Bruce pushes Chrales wheelchair. Bruce tells Bobby to give them a tour.

Bobby takes them to the lower levels that even he hasn't been to. Professor Xavier detects another presence. Bobby confirms with Batman it is supposed to be there.

They deicde it is time for patrol. Logan hands the keys to Parker and asks him t oaccompany Bobby and Professor X back to Westchester. Lafred drives them back to their car. See the: Ambush X Timeline

Batman outfits Logan and he gets his first look at an auto graphnel up close. He asks Timmy how to use it and the two work amazingly well together.

Batman outfits a costume for Psylocke per her requests. She equips herself and shows that she is already proficient with the Batman's autographnel. He hands her some more items and a utility belt as well.

Everyone regroups and begins heading to the Redbird and the Batmobile.

Nightstick takes shadow form and melds with the darkness of Batman's cloak.
The hunt of the hunter begins.

Logan makes a comment to Robin about the auto graphnel, that is when Robin gives him a teched out one with a magnetized grip. Logan shows a toothy grin.

During the first three hours of patrol, Logan proves to be very adept with the auto graphnel.

Cat woman is spotted by Robin, then Logan. Psylocke stalks her. Batman tags her as a friendly. She approaches the three of them on a rooftop.

Manhunt in Gotham

Batman finds out that there is a new presence in Gotham.

Nightwing felt the presence, but was off his gamebecause of a discussion he and Barbara just had about the possibility of her walking again thanks to STARK Enterprises technology. The Hunter took out Nightwing and left him unconscious on a rooftop.

Azrael was also taken unaware and was left unconscious because of blood loss due to a precision puncture wound to the upper chest.

She gives Batman a mini-disc with info on their quarry. He is known as Kraven the Hunter. It seems he has exhausted all of the challenge of the hunt and has taken to hunting metahumans and quarries of reknown. She was unable to trace down the source of his comission.

Unlike normal she has no physical contact whatsoever with Batman. Batman introduces her to Logan. Logan drools.

Catwoman takes her leave.

Logan turns to batman with a lecherous look, "I like her.....she's fiesty. Pretty good with that whip too...."

Batman responds, "You have no idea...." and leaps off the building leaving that thought hanging in the air.

The patrol continues and they come across an abduction scene. Several local thugs are dragging a beaten screaming woman down a back alley.

The Dark Knight earns his name and uses the moonlight to intimidate the thugs as he swoops down into them using one of them as a battering ram to knock another two into the alley wall. Batman's swing culminates in his boot planting 10' up the wall and flipping to the ground rising as a dark shadow of justice. The dark chill of his voice echoes throughout the alley "Enough!"

One of the remaining puncks panicks, two others draw weapons. One begins to target Batman while the other grabs the helpless woman and places the gun to her throat. Another breaks in a dead run for the end of the alley and escape.

Batman disarms the first thug with a Batarang as two of those he had earlier planted into the wall revive.

"Logan, the other gun is yours"

He turns his back on the remaining gunman and sweeps the feet out of both men as they try to rise, the spin culminates with the appearance of two more batarangs in the Dark Knights hands as he again faces the gunman.

In this time, Logan has used the auto-graphnel to repell down the side of the building. He has approached unseen and slices through the gun which drops in 4 pieces to the ground. He then takles all three and lands in a pile at Batman's feet.
As Logan begins to teach them a new definition of pain, Batman turns to finish the two who are again trying to rise. One batarang to the shoulder causes a newly draw gun to hit the ground, and followup kick shatters the collar bone and renders the arm useless amidst screams of agony.

Adamantium knuckles meet facial soft tissue and bone, bone meets pavement, one down.
The second thug is street savy, and good. He dodges Logan's attack. Logan buries his knuckles 2 inches into pavement. Snarling at having missed Logan backhands a third thug halfway across the alley into unconciousnous. After a few exchanges the second thug draws a sawed off shotgun from a thigh holster and muzzle blasts Logan at point blank range sending him sprawling several feet across the alley. There is a *POP* as Logan's ankle wrenches on his landing. A growl of anger arises from Logan's throat as he rises from what would have killed a normal man.

The four stop advancing hearing the shotgun blast and look in horror at the scene before them.

Robin staff trips the wanna be escapee, KO's him, and batcuffs him securely.

Batman spins on Logan's assailant, kicks the gun out of his hand, and recognizes him as a Special Ops officer that Jim Gordon kicked off the Gotham PD almost a year ago by the name of Eddie Falco. He kicks him in the face shattering his nose and knocking him unconscious.

Robin heads down a side alley and takes out some approaching thugs.

Batman becomes aware of a barely audible click and looks roofward. He sees Psylocke holding a sniper's rifle in her left hand. Before her stands a professional assassin suspended in mid air by the lifelike vibrant purple pulsation of a Psi Knife protruding from his open gasping mouth. As he jerks and drools, the knife seemingly disappears back into his skull and he slumps. Psylocke catches him by the scruff of his collar.

As the four approaching thugs try to regroup, 4 batarangs come whizzing out of the darkness behind them rapping them soundly in the base of the skull rattling their medulla oblongata's.

Two drop immediately and the other two stagger dazed to their knees.

Robin calls it in.

Robing Bolas-spikes one to the wall by his throat and uses a bolas around the others wrists. Batgirl appears on scene.

Batman heads to the roof and finds Psylocke Securing the snipers wrists.

"He is a professional. We weren't the only ones hunting tonight." Batman suspends him from the roof with a batline. When they hit the street, Psylocke gives him a forensic bag with a whiteish hair in it.

The thug witht he bolas tied wrists tries to escape. Logan hefts him by his collar and belt and face plants him into the dumpster.

Batman asks Batgirl what happened. She points to the thugs they were originally fighting, then down the alley from where the new ones came from and signals '8'. She says "Delivery."
Batman nods.

Thugs secured by Batgirl. Robin takes jackets from thugs and cover and supports woman. He puts a persoanl heater from his utility beltuse under the jackets to keep her warm.

Batman orders Psylocke and Wolverine to the roofs. He and Robin wait for GCPD. When they arrive he grabs Falco by the hair and shows them his bloody face. Briefly tells them what happened. He and Robin leave.

While this is happening Robin tells Logan to watch his back to the NE there is a billboard a few blocks over that would be great for snipering. He uses the scope from the sniper rifle Psylocke has given him and sees nothing.

He heads over to investigate. He finds that several people were here within the half hour. Psylocke asks for an update. Psylock tells him to get out of there as he is a sitting duck. He grapnels to an adjacent roof.

Batman checks it out and finds nothing.

They head back to the batcave.

Nightwing is there at the Bat Computer when they walk in.

Logan begins to swagger over to him when he rises, extends his hand. "Good job tonight Logan, I am glad you are well."
Logan is a bit stunned but offers his hand, he replies, "I aint dead, so I guess it was a decent job"

A bit later Logan heads down to finish working the adrenalin out of his system. As he works on the heavy bag Nightwing comes in and holds the bag for him. They switch and Nightwing takes his turn.

After a good workout Nightwing thanks him then walks out of the gym.

Segway to later in the evening, hours later. Nightwing has left, everyone but Psylocke has showered.

The alarms go off that there is someone in the batcave. Bruce, Tim, and Timmy immediately head for the cave. Logan sees them running by and after a second, starts to follow. As Bruce stops at a secret closet to throw on a spare costume, Nightsick shadow forms himself into a pure night black bat costume and envelops him. Batman heads to the study while Robin heads down the hall to a secret remote PC station in the manor.

As Wolverine catches up to Batman, he sees the desk chair tilt and Batman disappears into the floor. There is no trace of him. Smelling Nightstick in the room, but unable to find him, he growls and follows Robin's scent to the PC Station.

Batman uses another secret entrance into the cave and appears in the deep shadows behind the Bat Comoputer.

He heads to the costume chamber and grabs a cowl.

"Who is it Robin?"

Robin has patched into the system and has identified the alarm from the Med Lab which he relates to Batman. As he activates the video feed he is horrified... "Oh my God..."

Batman waits.....

"Batman, get to the Med Lab immediately! It's Parker!"

Batman arrives in the lab to find Spiderman in a beaten mess. He is half leaning on a console with his hand on a control panel. It looks as if he is struggling with everything he has to saty conscious, and is losing. His uniform is torn from his body in many places. His left wrist looks bent in a un-natural poisiton and the stem of his web shooter is mangled and bent back. A trail of blood shows where he dragged himself in to the lab with his hands. The lens from his left eye is gone revealing a bloody face and a look of dazed sorrow.

Nightstick reforms and begins rushing to his side.

On some level he recognizes he is not alone. He turns and sees them.

"Professor X...Iceman..... taken..................."

Sweet unconsciousnees claims our hero.

Batman and Logan notice a few more running towards them from the far end of the alley. Thet are oblivious of where they are running to and are definately running from something. Batman fires a dual-graphnel shot between the alley walls forming a tripwire at ankle height.
