Ambush X

After leaving the cave, Alfred drove Professor X, Bobby, and Peter to a few spots that Xavier wanted to visit under the city lights. He spent a bit of time reliving portions of his youth with Bobby and Peter. It was obvious he was leaving some out. They all enjoyed in his reminiscing and it was a good bonding time.

After a thankful goodbye to Alfred Spiderman and Bobby helped Professor Xavier into the car and headed back New York.

20 minutes out, Professor made an 'introspective' sound from the back seat that Peter noticed.

After a 40 or so minute drive out of the city, Peter began approaching the bridge out of Gotham.
The Professor again made a "hmmm" sound at the same time Peter's Spider Sense started going off.

A minute later Peter blurted out... "Look out guys.... something wicked this way comes." Spidey pulls his mask on.

Bobby pulled out his starlight goggles and began scanning the surrounding area.

A few seconds later Peter started hitting the breaks as his spider sense was blazing. He began a very controlled skid/slide down the snowy road on the bridge.

As Bobby turned back to look a large figure (Juggernaut) stepped out in front of the car.

They were less than seconds away from hitting him and for once Peter did not have a clever quip responding with "Shit!"

Bobby's lenses were set to telescope and all he saw was a brown field as the car impacted the immoveable object as 55mph.

Professor X begins making a telepathic link with Iceman and is cut off in mid 'thought' as the car colides.

Air bags went off. Windows shattered and exploded. Fortunately for Bobby the goggles slipped out of his hands as he face planted into the air bag.
Spiderman used his strength to stop the air bag from fully deploying. He used it as a cusion to absorb impact.

As his Spider sense went off the Juggernaut ripped the top corner of the driver's side roof roof off all the way to the rear of the car.

Spidey was already enroute to extracting himself when this happened and used the new opening to leap onto what was left to the window support frame. He got his first look at the Juggernaut.

"Wow...were you born with a head shaped like that? Well....it must have made it easier for your mother."

As he makes a move in Spidey's direction he 'acrobatically' flips a distance of 20 feet behind him and 10 feet up a lampost on the bridge.

Juggernaut ignores him and begins moving to the back of the car.
Spidey climbs to the top of the 30' pole and checks for movement in the car.

Inside, Bobby has iced up and formed an ice spike from the back of his hand. He has suffered damage to his right leg and chemical burns to the face from the air bag.

Juggernaut starts reaching into the back seat menacingly.

Bobby pops the airbag only to realize he is blind. His Danger Room training kicks in and he proves himself a true X-Man. He uses his other senses and deduces someone is tearing supports and trying ti pull Xavier from the car.

Spidey posiitons his feet on either side of the pole. Liquid polymer ejects from web shooters and knits into a web casing about Juggernauts head. Spidey heaves and then heaves enev harder actually pulling the 900 lb behemoth off the bridge and begins swinging him away from the car.

Juggernaut grabs the webs in mid swing and begins yanking. The light pole's metal snaps and breaks as Spidey hangs on.

Spidey then uses his webs to affix his end of the web to what is left of the top of the pole as he 'acrobatically' leaps 30+ feet to the ground behind Juggernaut in the middle of the empty street to get a better view of the car.

The Lightpole explodes in fire and concussion - Juggernaut lands on his feet. Pulls Xavier out of the car. Using one finger he tips the car and it begins sliding over the edge of the bridge.

Spidey rushes to the edge of the bridge as Juggernaut begins heading off with Xavier.

Spidey notices Iceman is still pinned behind the airbag.

Iceman then uses his ice spike to deflate the air bag as he feels the car begin to free fall toward the water some 300' below.

As the car falls Spiderman leaps to the edge of the bridge.The car begins falling again the wind pushing it partailly under the bridge making a web shot difficult. Spidey begins crawling under the bridge. Web shooters ***THWIPP*** into action. The car jerks to a stop and Spidey strains, his feet slipping in the snow and ice as he desperatley tries to cling to the ice ridden under side of the bridge.

Just as his forward momentum stops his Spidey sense goes off and he turns his head to see Mister Sinister approaching. There is little he can do as

Sinister appears on top of the bridge. He peers over the edge of the bridge at the web suspended Iceman.

"Robert Louis Drake....Iceman...Goodbye"

Spidey tries to decide between moving and possibly losing his tenuous cling to the bottom of the bridge as his Spider Sense goes off.

The bridge above him both explodes and disintigrates. Chunks of pavement fall into the car and Spidey focuses to maintain his cling.

Sinister looks through the hole.Spidey starts to say something to him when in disbelief he feels his webline snaps.

Sinister makes a disparraging comment to Spidey as if he is not significant.

Spidey glances in concern to the car to see that Iceman has extricated himself and appears to be forming an ice slide.
He leaps through the hole to confront Sinister.

"Who dresses you? I think someone has seen one too many Dracula movi......."

Sinister points his palm towards Spiderman in mid sentence. A flash of light appears and Spiderman is hurled almost 40 feet. As the balst hits him his clothes are shredded from his body. His costume is revelaled in mid flight and also begins to disintigrate amid the blast.

As the blast begins to fade, Spiderman slams back first into another lightpole on the bridge. There is an audible clang as the pole bends in a 55 degree angle and Spidey slumps unconscious to the snow ridden ground.

Down below, a blind Iceman still maintains his calm and uses his senses to gauge the distance as he extends his slide and creates a platform just over the surface of the river. The placement is near pefect
As he guesstimates the lenghth of his base he realizes he is going to fall off into the water. He absorbs the impact of his fall with an upsloped slide.

After a re-coup he liquid ices the ramp and slope off into the water creating a barge for himself. He tries contacting the X-Men only to realize his communicators and CD player were broken in the fall.

Spiderman comes back into consciousness in time to see headlights coming at him. He is beaten and badly hurt. He has sustained a very serious concussion from Sinister's blast and is disoriented. He does not even notice that his Spider Sense is not warning him of the oncoming car. He has forgotten that he had just tried 3 times to rise and failed as he gets to his feet.

A fan from New York offers to let him sue his car. His one thought is to get to Batman. He webs his arm into a sling. He then takes the car and heads to the nearest payphone. In the process of trying to dial Wayne Manor, he is again over come to reach Batman. His concussion is preventing him from recognizing his Spider Sense warning. Channel 6 news is following and watching.

On some subonscious level he recognizes that to dial would be bad (as it could be traced) and his Spider Sense is translated into an overwhelming need to get to Batman.

He begins driving to the Batcave. It is amazing he is not pulled over as he is swerving all over the road.

As he approaches the turnoff for the batcave entrance the urge to reach Batman becomes even stronger. He subconsciously accelerates, thus avoiding the tailing Channel 6 news vehicle. As the Toyota Solara appears to drive right into the wall of a cliff, there is a burst of concentrated heat and air. The motion vibrators shake up the ground covering all signs of his passage. The Channel 6 news Van drives past 30 seconds later.

Iceman is rescued by a small boat containing a Channel 6 News team who ask for a private interview in exchange for a rescue.

Nightcrawler appears behind him, gives Channel 6 a toothy grin and teleports him to the Blackbird.

Jean checks him out and after a moment determines the causes for his blindness is due to an interrupted psychic link with Xavier. She fixes in Pyschicly and his sight is restored.

As Spiderman heads down the entrance to the Batcave his headache increases and he finds himself battling to stay conscious. As he momentarily passes out, the Solara drifts into the tunnel wall and rebounds across the tunnel. As it makes contact with the far cave wall, the car rolls and begins flipping end over end, Spiderman loses consciousness.

He regains conscousness shortly and crawls from the smoking (and luckily not exploded) wreckage. He drags himself along the tunnel floor into the Med Lab. As he pulls himself to the computer console link he uses what will power he has left to press the access button to the Cray mainframe and use his sticking ability to hold the button down with the weight of his body.

Bobby contacts Batman. He tells them to bring the jet to Gotham harbor and sends the batboat out to get them.
