Trying to Rescue the Monks and finding the Brigands by Mistake and a Golem
In the morning we heard that there were some monks gone missing in the forest. They were rumoured to have been shut up in an asylum by a band of evil creatures. So bright and early (neither Kiare nor Salamander was up) some of us went to search for the missing monks, off north into the forest by the road. We found a squat dirty structure with people inside and hastened towards it when a large hulking rock creature stepped out of it with a little weaselly man hovering over its shoulder. It was a nasty great golem and our weapons had no effect on it.The golem lumbered towards us with people blunting their swords on it as it swung at us with its huge rock fists. Meanwhile the bandits had come out of the building and were also attacking the flanks. By this time the Necromancer and the rest of the crew had arrived. Someone managed to kill the sorceor who was animating the golem and it fell over and lay still.(until people started trying to violate it with sticks)  The sorceror and another dead bandit were looted of coins (and hat, by Calum) and the Necormancer raised the bandit but didn't get any information about the monks.
Back up at the Tavern a dying Elf stumbled in from the Keep and with his last gasping breaths told of a huge Orc army to the north-west. My immediate reaction was Yay!! Orcs to kill!! While we were debating which way to go a couple of dishevelled looking folk came out, a thin one with clasping hands and a fat one with something in a cloth. Andreassa swiped it and dropped it down her reasonably generous cleavage, and tried to get him to answer questions with the promise of getting it back but he just kept asking for his Precious. Which incidentally appeared to be just a rock. "What strange things have you seen?" "Precious, Want precious." "Tell what strange things and then precious." "Precious now!" "Precious when you tell of strange things." Madman walks over to side of path, plucks a leaf and says "Strange! Green, brown, white - strange!... now precious?" "...It's a leaf! Show me strange thing, then precious!" Picks more leaves "All strange, greenwhitebrown - strange, precious!"  "Tell us of strange people, bad strange things..." Eventually she just chucked it in the dirt and stomped off in a huff at his madness.  So all of us formed an army and travelled far into the forest to find the tower and the Orc army.
All we intrepid explorers went off into the forest to find the Orc army or the tower. Off down towards the sea Salamander, Kiare, the Necromancer and I decided to take a different route and ended up at a Frame of Round Strange Bouncy Things. So we sat down for a while idly talking until shouts were heard in the distance. So we sneaked on down - well I sneaked; Salamander seemed incapable of being quiet - and found a tower. It was tall and there were people on it dressed in weird clothes. They were jumping off it on ropes. There were a couple of old ladies with a dog round the back, also in this strange clothing. The dog barked and sounded very large and mean - like a Hound of Doom in fact. As we rounded the tower its true stature was revealed, a short little freak indeed, and it was degraded to a H-- of D--. However as it strained on its leash and made barking and biting motions it gained the status of Hound of D--. Then we turned round and discovered that in a crudely made fort behind us across a large clearing, there were orcs by the dozen!! They yelled warcries at us. We hiked it. Salamander, Kiare and the Necormancer would not go as fast as I wanted, in fact they seemed quite unconcerned by the fact that there were a lot of orcs that if I was them would come after us and slaughter us gruesomely. However we got to the safety of the Chapel where the other adventurers had gathered, and panted out our discovery.
At that point we of course all hiked off to attack the Orcs, yo-ho yo-ho. When we arrived we saw their fort was a wood shelter of branches and there were about a dozen Orcs inside. They had an archer and I stood in fron of him with my shield and attempted to stop him hitting anyone with arrows, and grabbing the arrows and giving them to our archer, Andreassa, twho was firing them back at the Orcs, which I found very irritating as she wa giving them ammo. The others were millinng round the fort trying to pull out branches - sap the walls - without being hit by the defenders. It was in short a great seige, and as we, the besiegers, had a superior army we eventually pulled it down and killed the Orcs. (They all slunk off into the forest, except for one, who was zombified by the necromancer.) Then a Game Master came up and told us the history of the Orc Boil: that there were thirty pillars around a seething pit of Orc young and we had to topple the pillars. Three people were allowed to work on the pillars at a time.
Kiare took a turn on the pillars, the Necromancer raised an Orc zombie and made it attack the pillars, and someone else went at it also. It started to rain lightly, I was glad of my cloak. The rest of us pulled some of the branches out of the way - and then a lot of Orcs ran out of the undergrowth and attacked us again. There was an Orc archer with them so I ran up to the front and covered our archer while she shot. A kamikaze orc or two ran pell-mell through our ranks hitting from side to side and collapsed at the far side when he'd taken the hits. The orc archer was left unguarded and I suddenly realised that he couldn't get me as I had my shield; he saw my looking at him speculatively and ran. So I ran after him and killed him. Yay!! There were several waves of fighting as the Orcs attacked again and again.Salamander and I had our turns hitting the pillars. Some of them flanked us a couple of times (I got my glasses knocked off) I tripped over the branches a couple of times. There was a lot of fighting on the open ground towards the Tower, mainly skirmishes against one or two orcs. Some of these had the potential to turn out badly especially if the orc had a long weapon, so when I went down there to fight I got into the habit of seeing one of my fellow heroes fighting and Orc and running round behind the Orc to attack so it couldn't defend both sides. The ground was mud-covered and very slippery so was difficult to maneuver. I had to get re-armoured many times during the battle as it was very perilous being out on the front lines, I also had to get healed twice though I did not get killed or knocked unconscious, luckily. Hingen, the Half-orc or Perryn did my armouring which consisted of whipping off my mail-skirt and the armourer bashing it and saying Oompah a few times. Then putting my mail-skirt on again before the next wave of Orcs came out of the undergrowth. I killed the Orc archer again. Kiare says that after facing her once with her morning star, in the next wave she heard one of the orcs mutter "I'm not going near her with that thing again!" and back off.
As the Orc skirmishes continued, the pillars were slowly being demolished with the GM overlooking the bashing. The Orcs broke through to the pillars a few times, which gave the Necromancer new zombies to replace the worn-out one. When the pillars were finally all toppled, the GM gave us a lurid description of the Orc boil falling in and being destroyed. We cheered. Then all the Orcs came out of the undergrowth and formed up into a line, beating on their shields and howling. They started yelling "You kill Orc children! We kill you! We eat, slay, bash!"etc. Some of us pointed out that they were too dumb to say children, a two syllable word, but they took no notice but attacked in a solid wave. There was concentrated fighting and eventually they all dropped. We were victorious!! We all tramped off back to the tavern for a well-earned lunch.
