The Elf Seer turned up in the tavern in the evening. I was sitting at the back, Kiare was closer. There was a commotion and it transpired that the Seer's eyeball had popped out and covered the place with blood. There was tomato sauce all over Kiare's neck. (Salamander licked it off.) The Seer was looking for Prince Silvermoon, on a quest, and also had tidings for only Elves to hear. So I got to go off with them, surreptitiously pulling my hair over my ears. We had to wait around for Silvermoon to arrive, he was scouting. Despite being told non-Elves weren't to hear, Toa'kata and Imbas hung around (supposedly to protect their lord) The Elven Seer and his servant rather over-acted. The Seer told Silvermoon there was a fruit of the Tree of Life in the King's bedroom, so they ran and got a map that just happened to be hanging on the wall of the Tavern, and the Seer went into deep trance and walked the corridors of the Kings palace while Silvermoon read off the map where to go. The Seer got the fruit and gave it to Silvermoon, to use on the Elven Prince (who, it seemed, had been turned into a vampire) when he would be rescued from the Keep.
A force was assembling outside so I joined it. We sauntered down to the keep with Vance and Andreassa in the lead, as a shield-bearer I got to the front. Kylen, Perrin, Tarramon, Tivrusky, Lucius, Slu'ak, Imbar and maybe a couple others also came. There were four guards at the gate, in their characteristid red panoply. The captain was a bald guy who looked rather threatening. He challenged us. Vance told him we had to get in to the keep as the Prince was in danger. The captain replied that they were guarding the Prince and there was no danger. Vance demanded we be let in because there were vampires in the Keep. The guard stated that there were no vampires in the keep, because the guards were guarding the Prince. Vance demanded a search of the premises. The guard captain denied and said the guards had already searched. There ensued a long discussion of how the guards were not doing their job of protecting the Prince, and how we should go away because everything was taken care of. There was creepy portal-music coming from part of the Keep, also some of the guards looked a little worse for drink. Andreassa in particular also tried to argue and reason with the guard, although nearly all of us chipped in our five cent's worth. I can't remember what I suggested, possibly them searching the drain system while we watched. Declined or ignored, as all else was. Eventually Vance got desperate and declared he's die to get into the Keep. We gave each other uneasy looks - it was treason to attack the Royal Guard, but the life of the Prince could be at stake. I was crouching behind my shield hoping we wouldn't have to fight. The Guards called for us to surrender. We looked uneasy again. Vance stepped forward. The captain shouted 'Guards! Arrest that man!' The guards rushed forward and attacked him. Some of us fought, some hovered wondering whether to fight or not, some didn't fight. I ended up fighting but holding back. Vance knocked one of the guards unconscious. He was driven back and killed. The half-Orc were unconscious against the chariot behind the downed guard. There was an uneasy stalemate while we watched each other. Another guard came up from the side. Andreassa stepped forward towards the fallen guard and they attacked her. Retreating, she protested she was only going to First Aid the guard. They wouldn't let her, called her a gypsy witch. They wouldn't let her revive our own either. The other Guard threatened Tarramon and I from the side. The Guard Captain called for surrender again, Tarramon stepped forward. The Guard told him to drop his blade, and grabbed it. I tried to scrape it back and the Guard attacked and killed him, which should not have happened because he was unarmed and an Elf. Eventually we grabbed our wounded and ran, as many of us were near death. We expected a rear attack but none came as we hurried back to the tavern to get healed and armoured. We posted guards expecting an attack at the tavern.
Vance the Vampire Slayer turned up in the tavern after lunch sometime. He remained a presence while we recovered from the Orc attack and hung around. I have it from Salamander that when he left the tavern to look outside he threw garlic at her and she had to pretend it didn't affect her till he went out. He told us that out half-elven Prince was in danger: there were vampires in the keep, he said, meaning to work the Prince harm, and we had to join him to get rid of them. Also, there was an issue brought up by Chalky about a sorceror attacking the mystical boundaries of the land; the boundaries between dark limbo, the dreamland, and the real world. I was quite eager to go on either - I guessed Salamander would not really want to kill vampires. Several of us were sitting round in the hall mending clothes with my cotton and needle, shooting the bow, making a quiver, mending weapons with my duct tape...
Impartation of Information for the Night's Doings
The Necromancer, Salamander and Kiare were huddling under a blanket by the side of the hall. I was polishing my sword (i.e. new duct tape) and mending my armour. Kylen and Tivrusky and Tarramon were practicing shooting, and sparring, and a couple of the older Lords were sparring and generally lounging around. One of the Lords started throwing jelly babies at Sal and the N, and there was a lot of rolling around trying to get the jelly babies. Salamander and the Necromancer were wrestling over a particular one held in N's fist - possibly it was grape flavour. The others found this display amusing, deciding they should not be allowed to roll around inthat fashion without being married, and someone went and got the Priestess of the One God who pronounced them husband and wife. None of this 'I do' stuff, a clear pronouncement. In the end they shared the jelly baby in the interests of marital harmony. I must confess that they continued this in-game development very well; the Necromancer did come and share her blankets (and that was all; believe me, I would have heard anything else) as a 'marital night'... and believe it or not, out of game Kelly and Porl are together still. She moved out of her uncle's place and flats with him.
After the vital information that the Prince was probably a vampire it was decided that we would split into two groups. Someone had been given information that there was a secret passage into the Keep though only four people could go. I think the four chosen were Perrin, Hingen, Froniga and.. um.. Cucculin I think. Or Silvermoon. I'm not sure which was the fourth. Anyway the rest of us (on this storyline; there was another thing happening the same night with Chalky) gave them a few minutes to sneak off and then went and posed a distraction to the guards at the gate of the Keep, yelling insults and taunting and rattling the invisible bars and banging our shields and suchlike. The guards had retreated behind their impregnable (and invisible) portcullis. Most were in the guardhouse drinking. The Captain and a couple of others watched us for a while and then went to the guardhouse. Imbas and Toa'Kata did a ritual round the corner, I think to help the ones inside the keep. We hung around for a while then went back to the Tavern.
