Quest for the Staff: All these undead are getting on my nerves
Kelly and Jessie and I were driven in by Jessie's dad. Kelly recognised a couple of people from the Alcove at Uni - he said "What are you doing here?" Kelly said "I'm a player character." He responded "Oh - crap." (Later on we discovered that he was the one who played the orc archers & dark-elf archer.) We met Scott and the other organisers, went to the 'keep' of Mordavia's prince and got our costumes on: Jessie-Kiare, Kelly-Salamander, me-Dariyan, then went back to Scott and got our weapons tested and pronounced safe, and trudged up to the 'village' of Beriam to set up. Naturally I tripped over the chain. We commandeered a  room, with Kiare on the top and me on the bottom, and Salamander on the bottom of the other bunk. We went to the tavern and sat there in the faint candlelight at one end of a table staring silently at each other and making very half-hearted attempts at conversation. Then we sat some more until more people came in. Some of them talked to us a bit and introductions. Mostly they talked in their groups also. Eventually there was a call to arms and we flooded out into the darkness and an attack of zombies and undead and learned that the Staff that kept the undead out of Beriam, a very useful thing, was gone, and we needed to get it back.
The staff was sighted in the hands of bands of the enemy, and run after by one group, while the rest of us hung rround to guard the tavern door against the undead that kept occasionally coming out of the undergrowth, dying, getting up agian, getting whacked again, getting up again, until we got the black witch-gypsy (Andreassa) to come and holy water them. In which case they dissolved back into the undergrowth and in a while another one came out. The staff was sighted again buut the bearers ran off again. Though it was eventually recovered by someone.
We got our tankards and sat in the tavern for a while again until there was a disturbance outside. When we got out there we had a green thing flailing around with two long tentacled arms, poisoned of course. The arms were longer than a sword and I got poisoned. I fell 'unconscious' onto my elbow on the kerb of the road. The tentacled thing was vanquished. Andreassa came and drew out the poison, and the gypsy girl healed people.  Then a big thing with the head of a bull and big nasty two-taloned claw hands came out and charged people. It was called a Necrotaur as when it was killed it kept getting up. Some of us took on the duty of keeping it down while we were sending for Andreassa's Holy water but it got up and ran away eventually.
Back at the tavern a troll had showed up and for some reason the shepherd decided it wasn't trying to hurt us and it ran away so some of us followed it. I was running after it also, but it ran by a building and suddenly about ten orcs jumped out of the bushes to the side in a flanking move! we were on a dirt trac with big drains at the sides and the orcs were so close in front of me that I couldn't turn and run, so I had to stumble backwards, and I kept hitting the drains and falling over and the Orcs were taking swings at me. I guess they slacked up a bit or someone else advances a bit because I was finally able to turn and run, looking over my shoulder with my shield up. The Orcs were pretty close behind us but we didn't have enough to fight them. We got to the road and there were some other adventurers there so we turned round and fought the Orcs.
Later on the Staff was missing again but then found again. Some of us went round the back of the tavern and this thing was there: it had a long black robe, with long sleeves hanging down, and black gloves, and a black cowl with no face other than two eerily glowing red eyes searching the darkness for something. It was scary! It made no moves to hurt us, so we couldn't attack it. Yelling Righteous had no effect, nor did Holy water. We attempted to follow it but it was just going in circles. Then we tried to herd it but it moved towards people slightly menacingly until they gave way. It was just like waah, this thing is scary, mummy.
The Rules and Campfire Tales
Everyone was gathered in the Tavern and told to go to the fire in the woods, where one of the Prince's scribes would read out a document concerning the town of Beriam. We made our way to the bright light and posted guards in case of an attack. Some guards came up resplendent in red tunics and gold trimmings, escorting an officious bastard who turned up his nose at us. He read his document saying that we of the town of Beriam were under the jurisdiction of the Prince and we were to make a village council to report to the Price tomorrow at noon. He gave a proclamation to be read later to Hingen, the Sherriff. Hingen read the rules of the town over the fire, until there was a distubance back at the tavern.
