Highlight of Accomplishment 1st Quarter 2000

• BFAR was reconstituted as line bureau last January 21, 1999

• Acquisition of 2,000 sq. meter lot for BFAR Regional Office from Iloilo Fishing Port Complex

• Operation of four (4) Outreach stations at:
  -  Sta. Barbara, Iloilo
  -  Hamtik, Antique
  -  New Washington, Aklan
  -  Himamaylan, Negros Occidental

• Establish five (5) demo farms for:
  -  King Crab/Mudcrab in Ponds
  -  Seaweed
  -  Seacage Farming
  -  High Saline Tilapia in Ponds
  -  Rice Fish Culture

• Mid-Year Review of the Agrikulturang Makamasa-Fisheries Program was conducted last July 11-12, 2000 

• consultative meeting with Senator Nikki Coseteng and the League of Municipal Mayors of Iloilo

• signing of Memorandum of Agreement between BFAR 6 and Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) and the municipality of Estancia for the establishment and operation of Satellite Aqua Laboratory for the conservation and protection of fishery/aquatic resources

• launching of the Packard Project founded by the Save the Children Foundation of USA last July 21, 2000

• consultative dialogue with the Office of the Provincial Governor regarding the collaborative effort to combat illegal fishing activities in Northern Iloilo

• Hands-On Training of Tilapia Hatchery Management conducted last July 27-28, 2000

• cooking-demo on surimi making, fish balls, fish nuggets fishburgers and proper fish handling conducted last July 2000, 

• sponsored Basic Training on Management Course for BFAR 6 personnel

• conducted Mid-Year Planning Workshop last July 19-21, 2000k
