Gunner's Recovery
Gunner's Amputation
After being caught in a wire snare trap for over a week, in freezing January temperatures, Gunner lost over 20lbs and had to have his hind left leg amputated.  He went from a very loving, beautiful Black Labrador to a skin and bones 3-legged dog that is very mistrustful of strangers.

Luckily, it was freezing weather, though.  If this happened in the heat of Summer, he probably would be dead.  By being Winter, he didn't have any ticks, fleas, or flys bothering  and sucking the life out of him.  I hope he will recover from his mental trauma as well as he has from the physical.

We still don't know which neighbors yard he was trapped in.  Whoever's trap it was, they found him, cut him loose and put him inside the gate at the end of our driveway.  Guess we should just be happy they dropped him back off at our house, they could have shot him!

Getting ready for the next duck hunting season.
Gunner has recovered from his amputation physically.  He can still outrun our Goldens.  He had gone through 3 months of hunting school before this happened to him.  He loves to retrieve and we are working with him to get him back into shape for duck and goose hunting this fall.
We don't know if we will put him in more schooling or not.
He is from a great line of Black Labradors, click

They have beautiful Black Labradors here!
