| I brought my instamatic camera. I found out that it has no long range capabilities. Out of the 25 pictures that I took, only 2 did not come out and the pictures I took home were okay -- one quite beautiful. Next time, I will bring more film. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Dear Journal, 6:00 a.m. We got 5 hours of sleep. We showered, dressed and were ready to go. [maybe LOL] We went downstairs to the lobby to get some breakfast. A banana, cereal, danish juice and hot cocoa worked well. Oh, but I do miss my toast. 10:00 a.m. We all came outside for pictures when we saw Beth and Senor Moose aka Paul. As several pictures were taken, Meg was doing the Charleston Dance bit, hands over knees, it was too funny. Wait until she sees this here. 11:00 a.m. Mum and I were on our way to Independence Pass with Hans Jo and Trudy. The mountains were lovely and very tall. Hans Jo would be great in the position of photowalker [HINT, HINT] as he knew just where to stop to take good pics. There was snow on the mountain tops which was okay so long as it did not hit street level. We were not looking forward to a cold campfire. The altitude was killer so mum and I sat down to take in the view. We left Independence Pass on our way to Maroon Bells. There was a nice view from the bottom which is where I planned to stay. In the car, Trudy played CDs which were not always Sr. JD, but naturally were in the same stylings as him. It was good to hear those other CDs. I especially liked the one entitled, "Lime Creek." I saw scars on the mountains and places where houses should NOT be, but there is nothing to be done. [SIGH!] So sad! :-( After we left Maroon Bells, we went back to Aspen. |

| Timeline Thursday, October 10, 2002 I finally got to meet LIZ and ME [Emmy.] Mind you, Liz and I are only 5 hours away from each other but it took a flight, a bus trip, several states, 2 countries and 5 years for us to meet in person. I had this feeling that somehow this time we would not make it either as times in the past have failed I was finally able to give her the vase that I made from the Christmas card exchange. |

| Dear Journal, Mum and I relaxed. We took a small walk and then returned to our hotel room #303 at the Snowflake Inn to watch TV. All the traveling we did left us both very tired. Our hotel room was a one bedroom suite with a kitchenette and pull out sofa bed. 3:45 p.m. We walked down to the Sr. JD Sanctuary with Squirrel who finally arrived. We missed her yesterday, so Wolf and I were not sure what happened. At the sanctuary there were many people and a goodly amount of guitars. Mum and I looked around and found a nice rock to sit on while we listened to Roy Rivers play guitar and sing. Julie joined in on "Rocky Mountain High" and that was cool! 5:00 p.m. Mel came down to tell us that the worship service was about to start. We finished singing, "This Old Guitar" and then we went up the hill. The service was beautiful thanks to SunnyDeb, Keith and all who participated in it. I kept the flyer which I will add to my Sr. JD scrapbook at home. As songs were played and sung, people decided to join in especially on "Tenderly Calling." Someone mentioned to me that I should sing louder as I sing good. I thanked that person. It made me feel good. It is not that I do not like to sing solo, because I have, it is simply that I do not want to take away from any one else. I met Anarosa and Paco here. They are such nice people and I was glad to meet more Spanish friends of mine. As many people know I do speak 3 other languages besides English, but I know that it is easier to write them than it is to speak them. |
