| The "4 On The Road" gang consists of JustPeachyFloss, mpdreamer1Meg, myself and my mum Joan. 4 is in reference to the number of us and "On The Road" is in reference to that Sr. JD song. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have always wanted to go to Aspen, however, before this time it has only been a dream which I never thought would come true. Funny though my dream of seeing Sr. JD sitting on a stool, guitar in hand, microphone in front of him, playing well into his older ages will NEVER come true. As I have said several times before, I would trade my life in its entirety so that Sr. JD would still be here today. 53 years young is so YOUNG, so very undeniably young, no matter what anyone says. Some have told me it was "his time" to go, but what is that?! Perhaps 'tis true, but why?! And why believe it?! |

| Dear Journal, I got up early so I could do some baking for our bus trip. I turned on the stereo and put 3 CDs into the player -- RMH, PP & P and Reflections of Life and Love. Of course I played RMH 1st as I wanted to listen to "Darcy Farrow." I then made 6 corn muffins, cinnamon nut bread, and chocolate chip cookies. I also bought pretzels and applesauce in plastic tins. I sliced up the nut bread and placed the slices into sandwich bags. I did the same with the rest of the items. I put some napkins, a plastic spoon and the food items into a paper lunch bag. Thanks to JD's RavensChild we received a packing list. I added things I needed and deleted things I did not need. WOW 43 hours on the road. This member of the "4 on the Road" gang wanted to go, to be in Aspen right quick. As if I could snap my fingers and appear there! I found out that some people I know of will be staying at the Snowflake Inn same as myself and my mum. We did not have a very good head count, but someone thought perhaps that there would be 1,000 people all together. If everyone signed onto SunnyDeb's list of who was staying where, we'd have a closer idea. Sunday, October 6, 2002 8:30 a.m. Meg arrived and we ate breakfast. Nothing any big deal, but I knew we'd need nourishment for the road. I bought the perfect little 6 cup glass thermos which we filled with coffee for the 2 coffee hounds on this part of the trip. It is not that I hate coffee, but it seems to hate me. LOL 9:15 a.m. We were on the road heading down to Pennslyvania to meet Floss for our 1st part of our trip which was a 6 hour drive and we only had 2 re-routes. We stopped briefly so I could get some Mt. Dew for myself and a paper for my mum. I was not sure how many people would be at this fete or party, but I knew it would be fun. Or course if LORRAINE and DAWN had been able to come that would have made everything perfect. Perhaps next year. At this point whatever I did not pack, I did not need since I could not get it. Yesterday, I checked in at Rory's Place and found a note from Dreuski and Harold that a men's leg contest would be held at the campfire. Then they mentioned about a women's leg contest and my response to that was, "Nope, nope George, count me out!" 10:00 a.m. We were still on the NY state Thruway. 11:00 a.m. We stopped for a break. 3:00 p.m. We finally arrived at Floss's house. We stayed for a small while, had a nice visit with her cats [Chester is adorable! aawwhh!] We went to the Eat n' Park for lunch. 2 cheeseburgers with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, fries, chicken teriyaki, a hot dog with onions and a reuben sandwich with onion rings and 5 people were full. The next part of our trip was the next day at 5 a.m. My mum and I were dropped off at our hotel for the night, while Meg stayed with Floss. We went to bed early as we knew morning would come soon. 1:30 - 2:30 a.m. I could not sleep. I sat up watching "ER" and then I fell back to sleep. 4:40 a.m. The alarm went off when I did not want it to. If I had a hammer I would have beaten up the alarm phone. LOL Mum and I got up, got showered and waited for our ride to the bus depot. In chat a few people said we were dedicated going by bus, but Floss and I are afraid to fly. We don't like heights. I played "Forever, John" while we waited. The songs are okay, some pretty even. Then came song #6 "No One." Did I take notice! It is like no other song. It is listed as writer unknown, but Christine Moon, mysellf and maybe others agree that in a bad part of Sr. JD's life he truly did write that song. Last night I was not feeling well. It could have been nerves or maybe I do not travel well. I started to put ALL of my Sr. JD CDs in the under the bus suitcase with my discman in my carry on case. I soon realized what I had done. Floss was the 1st to get funny with this. As she said, "Driver please stop the bus, I have to have you open the suitcase carrier I need my Sr. JD CDs." LOL So I put some of my CDs in my carry on case. |
