Dana Dances on Paper

($15, Dances on Paper Press)
is a slick, upbeat story about a young Black girl growing up in the Bronx who faces hardships and self reflection as her mother dies of a fatal disease. The main character, Dana Strong, wants desperately to become a professional dancer, yet doesn't have the monetary resources to receive the training and mentorship she needs.

Dana Strong has a need to connect deeply with her friends and community around her, yet is keen enough not to get too enthralled in the dark depths which ghetto life can sometimes offer. Becoming a street dancer and a brief stint as a stripper when she gets older, reveals to Dana, that she wants something more than to pedal her physical talents for "paper." Dana Dances on Paper is a must read for anyone who has desired a dream, yet took the often unorthodox path towards achieving it.
