This is a poster I helped design as part of a class project in college.
We were to choose an on-campus service organization and create a poster for them. My group chose Upward Bound, a program
that held weekly tutorial sessions at local high schools in order to help college-minded high school students prepare themselves for
later schooling. When we spoke to the director, she told us that they would like to recruit more tutors, and this is what we came up with.
We knew that there would was a high interest around campus for all things Star Wars due to the coming release of Episode One in the Spring, and we decided to use that in our poster campaign. We expected that the slogan "Be Yoda," along with the picture from The Empire Strikes Back,would grab the initial attention of most students. The black background was chosen in part, highlight the slogan, as well as differentiate the poster from the other posters and flyers around campus. The text begins with a Star Wars reference and then draws the parallel between Yoda and Upward Bound tutors. |
