Our Mission Statement

We look at our country and we are saddened. We see a country being ravaged by the greed and avarice of many of those who are supposed to lead it.

We look at our country and we are troubled. We see an otherwise talented, hardworking and infinitely patient people being wasted and demoralized by the insatiable cupidity of many of their leaders and their leaders' relatives and cronies.

We look at our country and we are infuriated. We see many politicians and public officials, and their relatives and cronies, who view public office, not as a vehicle for public service, but as a passport to private wealth, enormous private wealth, in the shortest possible time, and to hell with morality and public opinion.

We look at our country and we weep. We see the perpetrators of the vilest form of graft and corruption and the beneficiaries of untold stolen wealth parading in opulence and lionized by society, while millions of hapless citizens rot in grim conditions of devastating poverty.

                                                                 ***

Is this the way it should be, forever and ever? Is this the best that the Filipino race is capable of? Are we really destined to live our entire national life in this fetid cesspool dug for us by many of our politicians and public officials?

The temptation is almost irresistible to say, Yes, and let the country go hang. But we want to give it one last shot before giving up in despair, and we hope that those who read this will join us in this last shot.

                                                                ***

We hereby align ourselves with the independent press, the Church and the organizations of civil society in the collective effort to save this country from predatory politicians and public officials, their relatives and cronies.

While other organizations in civil society choose to advocate human rights, anti-crime measures, a gunless society, press freedom, gender equality, environmental protection, freedom from debt, third sex acceptability, animal rights, etc, we choose to concentrate on transparency and accountability in government.

We believe that any credible program to reform government must begin and end with transparency and accountability, in the continued absence of which predatory politicians and public officials, their relatives and cronies, will continue to proliferate and prosper like maggots on a decaying carcass.

As citizens and taxpayers of this country, we have the right to demand transparency and accountability in and from government, the present as well as future ones. And we have a responsibility to future generations to make this country work; it is the only country we have.

To this end, we will use the Internet and other means to demand transparency and accountability in government, to force politicians and public officials to be transparent and accountable in the performance of their public duties.

This is our advantage over the independent press. By their very nature, print and broadcast media have a short memory, a short attention span and a short reach. On the other hand, the Internet is forever and reaches the entire planet, including not only Filipinos, both at home and abroad, but also aid-donor governments, international organizations, multinational investors and financiers and foreign media.

Dapat tapat!!! As we enter a new century and a new millennium, are you content to sit back and allow these parasites to feast on our decaying body politic? Or will you join us and support us in our campaign to save this country from them?

The time is now! The choice is yours!
