| The Virtue Avatar | ||||
| Bridging the gap between the militant Targe Avatars and the enigmatic and magick-borne Mystic Avatars, the Virtue Avatar is a direct embodiment of their deities. Where the Targes are great warriors of the gods, and the Mystics sages, scholars, and sorcerors, the Virtue Avatar can be seen as a priest of the gods, speaker for their wills, directly emulating their greatest aspects. In this way the Virtue Avatar is the most public and apparent of all the Avatars. They can be seen speaking to all in the great cities, spreading the word and truths of the gods. Many seek to convert all they can to the true path, citing the Scrolls of Pantheon and the Cindex, and telling of tales involving many gods. They keep the spirits and memories of the gods alive through example, leading a life that their deities would be proud of. The Virtue Avatar represents one fourth of the total Avatars in the guild, and usually manifests some of these traits... 1. An open and public attitude to speaking about the guild and the gods to others. They fear no man, no false religion, for they are armed with the Truth of the Ancient Gods and the power of the Old Ways. 2. A reverence for the Old Ways, and a desire to help others discover the path. They tend to be very helpful to younger members, and to those of the realm. Even those of evil gods will help others of evil in their activities. A Virtue Avatar may be called upon by many to aid in certain tasks, but always will choose how best to help others, and use discression in what tasks they can or will help with. 3. Many love the interplay of the gods and their followers, and take very active roles in developing inter-god storylines with the guild. The focus creatively on the gods themselves, and build intricate stories or plot-lines with the other Avatars or members. It is rare to see a Virtue Avatar not involved or interested in one adventure or another that revolves around the gods. 4. They care about the welfare of the entire guild to the extent that they will make sure each of the members (that they gravitate towards) are progressing without difficulty, including items and equipment needed. They watch for quests that need to be done, and may help (see above) but also watch over and encourage the trades of Tailoring, Fletching, and to some extent any or all of the others. They are charged with coming to the Council of Avatars will what is needed to help the guild grow in these areas. The Virtue Avatar focuses not on what is unseen (like the Mystics) or the field of war (like the Targes), but the present state of the realm, her people, and the gods. They care for the health of those around them, and the strength of the guild. In many cases, the Virtue Avatar is a champion for the people of Hibernia in that they directly carry out the wills of their gods onto the face of Hibernia. In this way, a follower of the gods of Life would seek to heal or help everyone in the realm, a follower of the Hearth gods would care for cities and its people, and those of Law tending to government and the rule of the land. While on the opposite hand, those of Evil or Death may seek to extinguish Law or Life, causing chaos and destruction. Virtue can have a very different meaning to the followers of the gods. In addition to the activities and actions specific to Virtue Avatars, the sworn protector of the guild must also follow the guidelines for being an Avatar in general. Officers of the possess the most rights and powers, but also have the most responsibility to the guild and her welfare.
