| Here's a picture of my current set up and I am finally happy. The car is a 2002 Volkswagen Golf TDI GLS. I have had Valeo and Hella Ecodes without fogs and was able to obtain a set of Hella Projector Xenon low beam/Halogen Free Form High beams. The kit came with a leveling sensor for the rear axle that dips the low beams downward to reduce glare to traffic when I have a heavy load. My TDI is an U.S. spec car, so I had to buy the European short bumper to mount the headlamp washers. The two large lamps in the center are 200mm Cibie BiOscar Plus auxilary lamps. The BiOscars are wonderful as they are both a fog and a driving lamp using a H-4 bulb. I do not have the fog lamps hooked up as they are mounted high on my car and would have more glare than a low mounted fog. If I aimed them downward to help throw light under the weather, I would loose driving lamp distance. The twin nature of this lamp makes the Driving Lamp very wide and provides plenty of light into the turns which is what I wanted. With a strong center spot found with some driving lamps, I tend to look straight ahead instead of left or right when going through a turn. I find this not to be the case with the Cibies. Wiring for the Cibie lamps is all 10 gauge with a twin '87' relay and a correct size fuse which I change when running different wattage bulbs. The relay is wired to the high beams with an additional switch. This way I can run just the Hella high beams and then hit the new switch for the Cibies. When I kill the Hella highs with the stock high/low beam switch the Cibies also turn off. This makes it very easy to turn off all the glaring lamps very easy and quick. I have Austrailian Spotlight Protection clear covers to keep debris from cracking the glass Cibie lamps. |
