Math Classes

Antelope Valley High School
While you are a student here at Antelope Valley High School, you are required to take a minimum of three years of math.  Beginning with the 2003-2004 school year, students are also required to successfully complete Algebra 1 in order to graduate.

Students who plan to graduate in the year 2006 are also required to take and pass all portions of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

While it may seem like the best choice to make is to take the easiest math classes, remember that this may stand in the way of your plans for the future after high school.

It is important to take the most advanced math classes you are capable of being successful at in high school.  Any math class you take in high school will usually consist of two semesters.  However, the same math classes offered at even the the community college level will usually consist of only one semester.  This will mean that the pace of a college math class will move at twice the pace of the equivalent math class in high school.
