Emma update 9-13-02
Emma decided that the past two weeks have been too easy for her mom and dad, and all the doctors and nurses.  She has decided to be difficult (they, the doctors, told us we were in for a rollercoaster ride).  After our intitial family meeting 9-12-02 (Jeannine's Birthday) at 1600 hours, Emma decided not to take on any more blood oxygen than she felt like dealing with.  She basically almost died, twice, maybe three times...  Turns out she most likely has an infection.

Emma was re-tubed, given a blood transfusion, placed on antibiotics, and "doped up" (mom and dad jealous, they needed doped up too) so she could rest.  Emma stabilized around 5:00 AM and is now improving (as of 10:30 AM 9-13-02....yes, I know it is Friday the 13th.  We like that here.  Jeannine and I were engaged October 13th, 2000...it was also a Friday.  I know, I enjoy pushing my "luck".  Sorry for the long paranethetical "phrase").

Mom and dad returned home around 0600 on Friday to sleep and will be going back to the hospital once mom awakens (she was not able to sleep at the hospital. Dad can sleep on broken glass if he must...)

Please keep a positive thought fo rour little one.  She needs all the help she can get!
