Well, here we go... So Jeannine finds out she is pregnant in April. Things are going ok, but there were a couple of issues that landed her in the hospital on August 17th for mandatory bedrest with her feet elevated over her head. Since Miss Emma was rather impatient after being in the womb for a mere 24 weeks and five days, and due to complications, the doctors decided it was time to "take the baby" on August 28 at 9:50 PM. Miss Emma Nicole Reilly is a whole 1 pound four ounces (that's 540 grams for you metric people - and yes, I know if you do the conversion it is more than 540 grams, this is what she is now, 9-4-02)and 12.5 inches long. For a reference on size, guys look at your shoes, she could fit in one of them, your fist is bigger than her head (even the ladies, unless you have really small hands), and if you hold out both hands cupped together, she would nest real nicely in there.
As far as her health goes, she moved right from the OR to the Lancaster General WOmen and Babies Hospital NICU. She is over breathing the settings on the respirator, was started on antibiotics as soon as she came out, blood oxygen levels are great, soiled her first mini-diaper (which is really good, oh, and they are really really small...), heart is firing on all four chambers, brain looks good, liver has a couple broken blood vessels whcih will most likely clear up in a few days, and she is wiggling like a bug!
Mom is doing great as well! The nurses had to stop her from charging down the hallway Thursday morning, "C"-section and all... |
