Weekly updates
OK, I finally got to a picture update, so here they come.  Here are a few we were able to get on Wednesday, October 9th while they were re-taping her breathing tube.  The stuff on her face is an antibiotic (I think maybe betadine?  What do I know...)  Anyway, the last one is her with her eyes open, the wedding ring and the infamous "prayer Puppy".

Mom and Dad are doing well.  We can't wait to finally have her at home with us!

Now, for the "weekly" thank yous/NICU gossip:

RN Jen left to get married this coming Saturday, Michelle is out for other stuff, and Denise is on vacation Tahiti (we love her, but are now very, very jealous...)

So, on to the "new crew"!

Pam took care of Emma most of last week during the day shift.  She was great with Emma and exercised MUCH patience with Jeannine.

Lynn had Emma when she crashed with a "bradycardia".  Both Lynn and Jeannine were screaming for the other pod nurse who had left to give a report to the doctor.  Timing in life is everything, isn't it?  D'OH!

Kim has been great to yuck it up with, once we finally got to know each other!  Every time she is there, we know we are in for some good chuckles and good care for Emma.

Now,
BJ and the aforementioned Kim in the room at the same time is apparently a violation against hospital policy.  BJ from NJ is fun to hang with, but she likes the Rangers.  What is she thnking?

Kristen, who was there the awful night of 9/12 tending to the other babies in the "pod", finally took care of Emma this past week.  Emma did much better this time with Nurse Kristen.  Cousins Russ/Colleen, Mike/Jeannette, LISTEN UP! Kristen has twins, so she enjoyed your story.  We'll leave that as an inside joke.  Let's just say Colleen and Russ had an unexpected package of twins that never should have been, but they could never imagine life without.  Now...Cousin Mike, Kristen really wants to know, "What was he thinking!!"   (as the rest of you think, "Lucy, you got some Splainin to do!!!" Here's the story:  Mike married a great girl, Jeannette, who happens to be a nurse, oh, and a TWIN.  Watch me close here folks, I'm workin... Advice for anyone else that marries a twin, (especially for those of you who actually paid attention in biology class), making fun of your sister-in- law, who is your wife's twin sister, for carrying twins is never a good idea. Ask Mike, he is the proud pappa of twins now... Umm...  Again, D'OH!

Tracy has had Emma on the back shift the last couple of evenings.  Calling in a 6:45 am, Tracy is obviously a bit punchy from her 12 hour ordeal working the graveyard shift.  Somehow she has magaed to explain everything through my mental fog when I call in the morning!
