THE TIDE (SARI'S STORY)
By ~Pam~
As the waves crashed against the shore, 14 year old Sari shivered and pulled the rags that she wore tighter around her shoulders. The tide was coming in She wondered again why the sea didnt give off the glow that she saw in all magic things. She settled that it must be different kind of magic that the sea possessed and thrust the thought from her mind. Sari made her way back to a deep cave that was her newest home, leaving small footprints in the sand behind her. She looked around her cozy little dwelling, (which glittered in her vision with the use of her magic) that was also the home of her kitten. It one of her grandest houses yet and she was sad at the thought that she would have to leave soon. But better to keep moving than be caught by the awful demon that pursued her. She shivered again, though this time it was from the thought of the demon chasing her in the night as much as it was the cold. "Well I cant do anything about hideous demons but I can fix the cold!" she told the grey kitten she had named Smoke. Concentrating hard the glow of magic she saw inside herself, she urged a part of it to come out coaxing and pulling. Within seconds Sari had generated a ball of fire in, which grew in the space she used for a fireplace. "Ah. Warmth" she sighed, and dropped off to sleep next to Smoke. 2 kilometers away from the beach Piper woke with a start. She yawned and glanced at the clock next to her, 4:32 in the morning and much too early to get up. Piper turned over in the bed, saw that her husband was fast asleep and smiled. She let him be. They had both stayed up late last night.. About to attempt a try at sleep, Piper groggily noticed that she heard someone tinkering around in the kitchen. Who would be awake this early? Prue? she thought tiredly. With a mental jolt she remembered that Prue was dead and took a deep breath. In a cranky mood she made her way to the kitchen ready to scold whoever it was making so much racket. Piper entered the kitchen and saw Phoebe hunched on the couch with a cup of coffee. About to chide her younger sister and send her off to bed she noticed with shock, Phoebes bloodshot eyes. She looked as if she hadnt slept at all. Phoebe sensed someone staring at her at turned to look at Piper. Se smiled thinly and patted the couch as an invitation for Piper to join her. "Couldnt sleep either?" Phoebe inquired "Something like that. What the hell happened to you?" Piper said worriedly, shaken at the sight of her sister looking so frail. "Dreams" she whispered. "But not dreams" she scowled, frustrated at her vague explanation. "They were just the same as premonitions, only theyve been plaguing me all night." Piper frowned at this, not bothering to ask or suggest that she was mistaken. Phoebe was experienced enough as a witch to know the difference between a dream and a premonition, even if the premonitions were of a different kind. About to ask her sister what she had seen, she noticed that she was fast asleep. Piper gently took the coffee cup from her hands and covered her up with a blanket. Deciding to ask Leo about it she discovered that he was gone. Muttering about unreliable men who disappeared all the time she got ready for work. That afternoon when Piper & Paige were back from work and Phoebe awake at last,(she finally got some "premonitionless" sleep) Phoebe told the others about her premonitions. "It was a young girl. A young witch actually. She had the power of making fire, she might have other powers, Im not sure." Phoebe stated. "She was being chased by a demon, that I am sure of. At first I thought it was just any guy, a very cute guyBut he tried to blast her with five different powers. The girl just got away. She must be our innocent. We have to help her!" "Yes," Piper agreed, trying to decide their course of action. "Did you see where this girl got to?" asked. Paige vaguely, still lost in the thought of a cute guy suddenly blasting her with his powers. "She took shelter in a cave, on a beach not far from here," Phoebe replied. "We have to do something!" Piper nodded, "Paige and I will go find our innocent and bring her back to the manor, shell be much safer here. Phoebe, see if you can recognize this demon in the book of shadows and find a vanquishing spell." Sari stared in wonder at the too women walking along the beach. It wasnt just the fact that it was freezing and nobody in their right mind would come to the beach in this temperature that got her attention. It was the fact that the glowed with magic! She had never seen anyone else except herself and the demon that chased her glow with magic before. She decided that they must be she-demons and went back to hide in her cave. The sound of a woman cursing wildly stirred up Saris curiosity once more. She stuck her head out of the cave to see the younger of the glowing demons clutching her foot and glaring at a pointy rock. While the older one was trying not to laugh. This puzzled Sari. Paige was red-faced and cursing when she spotted Sari. She nudged Piper who sidled up behind the girl when she started to flee and caught her ... Check out Chapter 2 for the ending! The Tide (Sari's Story) Part 2 - by ~Pam~
