This morning Julianna seems quite sad. Maybe she is realizing that she is not going back to her friends and caregivers in Bengbu. We are having to hold her a lot to comfort her.
Today's agenda is the park and Hefei SWI. The park was beautiful - a lot of trees which look like our willows. The only problem is that the park is not stroller friendly. There are lots of stairs. If I knew that, I would not have brought the stroller.
After the park, we went to the Hefei SWI. This is not where Julianna was from but two of the girls in our group was from there. The grounds were well kept. There was a children's play park and several buildings. The buildings were white and three stories. We went inside and the caregivers were extremely excited to see the two Hefei girls. The baby from Hefei perked up and smiled at her old caregivers. There were pictures on the wall of children adopted from Hefei with their families. The other girl adopted from Hefei was six years old. She was excited to show her new mommy her old bed.
We went into the crib rooms. I had some tears in my eyes. Rooms full of beautiful babies two to a crib. Most of them were sleeping. There was a room of toddlers, one of 2-4 month olds, and one of 6-9 month olds that we saw. I just wish all these babies could get loving homes. There caregivers do a great job, are loving, and I am greateful for the job they did with Julianna, but I would still love to see these children get a mommy and daddy.
After we got back, Julianna was tired. We gave here the bottle, then let her nap. At 4:00 PM she got up in a very good mood. It was playtime. She played with her stacking cups. She smiled a lot and started talking. She would say dada and baba. I am feeling like she is starting to get attached to us. I feel a little better about taking her from her old home, and I know she will be better off with her wonderful new mommy. |
