Featured Dilemma:
Dear Dan,
When I turn on my computer (it's a windows 98) I get strange things accross the screen.   I can't seem to make it work the way I want it to.

Sincerely,
Young and yearning,
in  CA.
Your system is of the windows 98 persuasion your are in luck.
Dear  Young and yearning,
Don't lose your cool yet.   As you may or may not know your system has a help section right on the start bar.  Click on this and see if the problem is there.  The help file will tell you how to correct the problem.   Don't work?  OK here is another way to check the crazy thing.

Go to the
programs move over to the accessories go down to System tools
look down the list ....see system information?
click on this.now look up and see the tools bar.
Click on the tools and then move to
system file checker.   click start and let the thing do it's work.  I f you have any problems the checker will ask if you want to restore the file to the original state.
Please be aware that you will need the disk with the original file on it.

SHORTCUT
Go to Start....go to run....type SFC...hit enter...and run . Let the program check your PC....

Good luck!
