Now At The Mall Noon rolls around and we finally make it to the little mall's parking lot. Melissa and her crew are already there. They are standing around stretching their legs. We proceed to get out of our cars to chat with them. Also, our animals need to be walked. While some of us are deep in conversation, others are staring at the sky. Meteors are falling at greater numbers now and we are able to see some of them touch down, which is not so lucky. So deep in conversation, I never even noticed my neice, Rachael, tugging on my shirt. She is pointing to the sky. Within seconds, a meteor crashes down and totals out the bridge. It didn't take us long to get our butts in gear. We all head down Hwy 49 to the ocean. Travelling thru the town of Gulfport is murder. All the townspeople are in the street looting and such. So sad. We finally make it to Hwy 90 and turn left. I don't know how we made it thru the town with all the people in the street. It isn't any better on Hwy 90 either. People are everywhere you look. I thought the road would be busier, but for some reason it's not. They are mostly running about stealing and some are partying. Many thoughts cross my mind and none are nice. We turn left on the road that runs along side the putt putt and Exxon place. We have to go quick before any more come down on us. Making it to the I-10 east, requires us to weave back and forth. I don't know about the rest of the crew, but I am sure glad to make it back to the highway. We come out at Exit #38. The whole way to my brother's meteors are crashing all around us. Turning right on the interstate, I decide to call my brother and let him know we are on our way. He assures us that they will be waiting at the Exxon near his house all ready to go. I tell him, it would be better to be closer to the interstate. He agrees and we hang up the phone. Unfortunately, just as we make it to Exit # 44 another meteor hits down. It takes out the bridge and some cars that are crossing it. OUCH!! We take a right off the interstate onto Cedar Road, then a left onto Popps Ferry Road. We manuevere ourselves to the 110. This takes us all the way back to the ocean and the casinos. When we reach the Biloxi Bay, we find out the bridge has been terminated. Making a swift turn back to the 110, we find that my brother's casino has been hit by a meteor. Luckily we make it all the way back to the I-10 without the bridge coming down. Tho not before seeing a meteor hit it. The last of my crew made it safely across. Tho many were not so lucky. I even saw that my sister-in-law's casino was gone, too. It made me wonder how Harrah's was holding up. Probably not good, I thought. Now back on I-10, we continue onward to get my brother and his family. I cannot wait to see his face and know he's okay. It's 3pm, when we finally make it there. We make the turn off Exit # 50 and see they are all gathered in the parking lot of a hotel near by. I'm so glad to see they are okay. We clue them in on what has happened so far and tell them to fall in after the last car has passed. They nod. We stop off at the last rest area. There we walk our pets and ourselves. Driving to the Alabama state line was easy, but difficulty awaits us ahead. We still have to round up my friend's from the airport. We drive ourselves into Mobile and can't believe what we see. It looks like World War 3 is going on. People beating each other, stealing, breaking windows, etc. It is so sad. I have no clue how we made it into the airport area, but it looks quite deserted. I guess they did all they could do here. It is totalled. I stop the car right in the middle of the street and start honking my horn. It doesn't take long for the others to join right in. I was about to give up, but a frightened, dirty lady came out from a hotel. The place had been utterly vandalized. I stepped from my car and called her name and a smile came to her face. She waved her hands and the others came out. It was, Pagen. We visit for some time, but we know we can't stay long. Meteors keep crashing down. It's very scary in the town, almost ghost like. With Pagen, there is my other friends. They all wonder how they are suppose to follow me, but we have that underway. We just get them to help themselves to a few rental cars. So now behind my brother's bunch we have this bunch: Pagen and 4 kids, Spring and 4 cats Jessie, husband, 2 kids and 2 pets Tina, husband, snail, male betta Bambi, husband, and 3 doxie's Dawn, daughter, and 3 cats Becky, husband, 2 kids Bobbi, Richard, 4 kids, many pets Get Your FreeWeb Pages
