North Redoubt (5.9), Cathedral Peak, Tuolumne Meadows

First Ascent: Paul Minault, Mark Grassi, July 27, 1997

Approach: Follow the Cathedral Peak Trail from Highway 120 until the prominent, dome-like north buttress appears ahead. Two cracks diagonal up its face from left to right. Take the right crack (5.4). Then climb vertically up over blocky ledges (5.9). It may be necessary to step in a sling in order to get over one ledge. Pro to 5". Pro ok.

Descent: Rappel off the low angle slabs on the east side.
